Grappling guru Roger Gracie is back to face the rough-and-tumble Mike Kyle on the upcoming Strikeforce :"Henderson vs Babalu" fight card scheduled for Dec. 4 at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri.

GracieMag.com brought word of the pending match-up yesterday evening.

Gracie made his Strikeforce debut back in May, submitting former UFC heavyweight champion Kevin Randleman. The bout was also the submission specialist's debut at light heavyweight.

Roger Gracie to face Mike Kyle in December

Roger Gracie, who just turned twenty-nine years old last week, now knows who next he will face in MMA and when.

His next challenge will be December 4 against Mike Kyle in the Strikeforce cage.

The current three-time absolute world champion of Jiu-Jitsu will fight in the light heavyweight division aiming for his fourth MMA win – he has three submissions on his record: one armbar from the guard and two rear-naked chokes, against Ron Waterman, Yuki Kondo and Kevin Randleman.

Now Mike, a kickboxer from Idaho, has 25 fights and 17 wins, the last coming by way of rear-naked choke.

Tall and with a long reach similar to Roger, the American lost to Fabricio Werdum via guillotine in August, 2009. He holds wins over Rafael Feijão, TK Kohsaka and Wes Sims

Personally I thought Kyle should have gotten the next shot at the title.

But this will be a big op for him, def a fight he can win, on a main card, and I have to assume a win here gets him a shot.


And good to see Gracie back out there as well. Good matchup.

Randleman looked dead before the fight and Roger didnt look to good at all in stanad up

I'll be predicting a Kyle KO. But I thought Gracie's standup looked fair vs randleman. Used his reach well. Shamrock noted a resemblance towards the diaz bros, wich I found interesting, emulating their style would fit his frame perfectly.

cant disagree wtih that, i just remmbber alot of Randleman staph rumors and he just looked completely drained during the fight

Roger isn't Werdum in the MMA submission game, and doesn't have the benefit of years of training with him either that Werdum has.

Kyle will knock him into the Andromeda Galaxy.

For now my pick is Gracie by sub... Good fight though!

I'm actually impressed Gracie took this fight this early in his career. I thought he had a couple more Randleman's and Waterman's and othermans to go before truly stepping up. Kyle is criminally underrated, especially at 205 where he has a very nice record with some solid wins. I got Kyle here.
