But we have all seen guys be given easy passages toward a title fight. Numerous examples.

Agree. When I say easy, I mean, not having to fight a top 5 contendor, or multiple top 5 contendors to get a title shot.

The winner of this fight deserves a shot. Joe is a serious LW and could give anyone trouble.

He absolutely mauled Gabe Ruediger in one of the most one sided prison rapes in UFC history.

On a card that otherwise sucked. I love the UFC rewarding big time performers with big time fights. It's not like he was embarrassed in that Stout fight either. He is 6-2 in the promotion with some really solid wins. George is 6-0.

Anyway, everyone is acting like this isn't going to help Aussie George along on his title quest. George is still somewhat unproven against good guys. Four of his six UFC wins are against guys not in the UFC anymore(WEC not withstanding). Right now the highest ranked fighter on his resume is probably George Roop. Joe Stevenson and Batman are solid guys, but J-Lau would probably beat either one of them right now.

Also, Frankie Edgar went Veach > Penn > Penn. J-Lau >>>>> Matt Veach.

Matt Veach is a beast of a wrestler with some really good offensive jiu-jitsu skills. He just lacks awareness defensively on the ground, so he gets swept and submitted by high level guys. He just has a few things to work on and he'll be back in the UFC in no time. If you'll recall, in the fight with Edgar, he had a REALLY strong wrestling advantage. That's pretty impressive. So go and tell that, homeboy.

So is Joe. That is my point. Neither is a name. Not a bad fight or a step back. Win and you're in.

I see the point, but think George deserved better, or maybe this is good for him to get an easy win in my eyes before a Title shot. Frankie did beat Sherk and Fraca before that Veach fight too.

Who else is out there right now? Since when is a 6-2 guy who is dominant in his wins a bad fighter?
