Goodfellas to become a tv series ?

Shitty idea.

I always thought, if they have Godfather's Pizza (which sucks), they should have Goodfella's Italian Restaurant. You would be seated by some Joe Pesci look-a-like who would be "Go sit over there YOU FUCKIN' MUTT!", there would be actors seated at tables, people would get whacked at random intervals, the type of place that you could charge people a fortune to go to.

Agreed. Wasn't "The Sopranoes" close enough to this idea? Everyone's had enough of mafia movies and the like. Godfather 1&2 were great, Goodfellas was excellent, Scarface was amazing and Miller's Crossing was a gem. Now let's stop making these fucking movies and go on to other subjects.

Yep. When you lack imagination, you create remakes. You make lousy movies about a TV Series that only an idiot would think had a chance at working as a movie (Mod Squad, etc.) . Then you create a TV series about an excellent movie, with the TV series having little or no chance of entertaining anyone. When all is lost, just create another Harry Potter movie and your movie studio, or what ever the hell it is you're working out of, should be fine. Such are the ways of those masterminds in Hollywood.

What's the point? It would have to be a mini-series (Henry Hill's story only goes so far) and then it's just a low-budget remake of a great film. Terrible idea.

So, they were trying to make Goodfellas a series then. No question about that.

I can't even begin to imagine Liotta as Tony, James was perfect as the character.

It's bad enough they're remaking T.V shows (new versions of Knight Rider and Hawaii Five-0), but this is just a bad sign.
