A good deal of marines are nowhere men who probably did a bunch of drugs in high school in the few years after high school until they realized that their only option at a decent career was the military. Most of them probably busted a nut at the sight of an opium field.

but seriously, i don't care...it's their deal. Just because thats a raid and a half and time in the cage here, no need to force it on them as it looks like growing opium is like growing strawberries to them.

This is standard practice. In the mid 60's Green Beret's were teaching Laoations how to plant claymores and set up defenses for opium fields in Laos so the Vietnamese wouldn't destroy them. Why? Because they product was going to America.
