| Good length and great athleticism. Still extremely raw at this point. It would be great if he continues to improve though and gives the US an actual great heavyweight. His next fight is in Cincy, I'm thinking about going to watch him

| No, he's only had 6 pro fights so far and 5 of them have been 4 rounders (he's won all by KO). It will be awhile before he's in there against a big name | |

He is very very raw. I think he started boxing like 3 and a half years ago. He's a former basketball player. You should read his wikipedia page his story is pretty amazing. He also has crazy power in his right hand, not so much in his left.

| He is currently 8-0 with 8 ko's granted they are are against total cans. I would expect he will fight on FNF a couple times in 2010. | |

| I was unimpressed with the two clips I saw. If he meets anyone with a decent right hook, it will be lights out for Deontay. He keeps his left way to low and squares up instead of showing ever changing angles. I grant he has some power and quick feet and movement, but unless there is some drastic improvement over the next 12 months, I wouldn't get my hopes up. | |

| He is raw I will concede you that, but at the same time he has only been boxing for 3 and a half years. | |

Started boxing at 17, 6'7, gave up basketball to box, has a ill daughter. Despite boxing 2 years made 2008 O;ympic team and despite being the greenest member of the team, was the ONLY ONE to win a medal Is underfeated with alot of 1st round knockouts hasnt faced anyone remotely dangerous looks like the plan is to wait out the Klits and build Wilder up on the job, hopefully will fight for a title sometime withing 3 to 5 years

| won again
11-0 with 11 knockouts, still in finishing school, had 35 amateur fights so is still a virtual amateur getting paid, waiting for the Klits to age

| I'm not impressed with him at all. We will see him go 20-0 before he gets a decent fight and he'll get crushed when it happens. Here's the guy he fought last. | |

| Ugh this shit is so annoying. Boxing prospects take so long to develop it's barely worth following them. Cain Velasquez and Shane Carwin were raw contenders a month ago.
Miguel Torres is the only name fighter in MMA to win a major title to do this.

| Boxing wasn't always like this was it? The best fighters should fight the best fighters, I think it's ridiculous. | |

| ehh really jsut depends, Joe Louis had 20 fights before facing former Heavyweight Champs
there are exceptions to the rule with guys like Wilfred Benitez and Ray Leonard fighting top guys real early (even Louis was 21 when he started facing former champs)
jsut different sport, they learn on the job more
for example, Wilder just fought another tall guy thats what they will take from this fight
normally a guy will fight a crap southpaw to be in with a southpaw, then a tall guy, then a guy with a good jab, then a guy who can bang a little, then a guy who can take him rounds, etc, etc
whereas in MMA you blend alot of stuff into one fight
I would say an MMA fighter learns alot more in 1 fight than a boxer in 1 fight on average

| see Wilder started fighting just 3 or 4 years ago, had a little amateur background (35 fights when most decorated ams have 300+) so he is still learning
also 1 loss hurts alot more in boxing right know (which is bullshit) but it does compared to MMA

| Not to drag this into any comparative debates or bash one sport or the other but I think the fact MMA fighters don't need to dance through all these hoops and aren't crippled by a loss makes the sport a more packagable, marketable product for today's PPV public. | |

| your definitely right wolf
no one likes seeing a talented prospect on ESPN then the next time they see him on a PPV undercard hes had 13 fights with no one youve heard of
in MMA you can actually watch the guys grow in boxing you normally see them unfinished then see them 7 months later at best and they are a different fighter

| Raw is an understatement. He needs to put on 15-20 pounds of muscle. He needs 18 months-2 years of steady fights and gym time working on fundamentals.
He has a long way to go. HW champ? No idea until he develops and faces a few guys that have a pulse. Does he have a chin? No one has tested it yet.
By early 2012, he should be featured on shobox against another HW prospect. I think that is when we will begin to see what he is becoming.
