Im picking BJ. Im somewhat over my negative outlook on him that was due to his half ass training vs GSP. And though I picked Flo, I think Flo's performance was as shitty as Penn's was good, so Im not as elated as some are about Penn. Now Penn clearly reestablished himself as the best at 155, but Diego is a big 155 with an dynamic offensive attack, I think that, at the very least, he makes this a very entertaining fight(very much unlike what flo was able-trying to do). I actually think BJ made K- Flow look that bad more than him just being bad. I think it just showed how good BJ actually is.

I would agree, except that Flo threw zero jab's despite a distinct reach advantage. And the whole pushing him against the fence business was rediculous. Obviously Penn's power threw Flo off his game early, but come on.

| But there is no doubt that Penn deserves bigtime credit for responding to the embarrassing loss in champion's fashion. Finally deciding to dedicate himself to the sport, training the way other champion's train, stepping away from his usual routine of extended layoff's after a fight. He's been a little bitchy with his comments but his actions have been perfect. | |

| Why do people say BJ wasn't devoted to training or fighting before now? BJ's been hungry since Pulver. He destroyed Jens and Joe and Sherk. Now recently I too have somewhat questioned those wins, but BJ turns out he was who we originally thought he was. I think the GSP fight would unfold similarly if it happened in five months. I never see him taking GSP, but at LW he is a monster. | |

| I think Diego has a 50/50 chance of winning this fight. Since you'll probably be getting +170 to +195 on your money, it's a great bet, imo. I'd bet Diego every day of the week in this one. | |

| I'd bet my avatar on this one with you wolf, it would be my inaugural bet. But, I don't post that much, so I don't know if you'd be willing to take it. | |

Cause we all watched the count down show's. Guy was taking time off during the GSP training. White was pissed. He was chilling in hot springs, he was carrying rocks underwater. Now he's with Marinovich, he looks to have had more muscle at 155 vs Flo then he did at 170 vs GSP. It's all pretty well documented.

| He doesn't look as ripped at 170 because he has to hide his muscles with fat.
BJ's been hungry since Pulver. In those stupid hype count down shows before GSP he was all "refocused now" blah blah then too. In fact every time he fights it's the fight where he's finally focused according to Joe Rogan.
He could train with Barry Bonds for six months and still get crushed by GSP. It's not his work ethic, it's the weight class.

He could train with Barry Bonds for six months and still get crushed by GSP. It's not his work ethic, it's the weight class. Exactly he decided the best way to prepare for GSP was to run less and eat more. This despite taking a full 6 months. Guy should have been hitting the weights during that time span, not just ordering 2nds at dinner. There are 2 clear differences between now and any previous time, 1)he wants right back in the ring, no 6 months to chill, to be lazy, right back in, keep the training going 2)Marinovich, in 3 months had him in the best shape of his life, let's see how he looks in 3 more months, 6 more months etc. No one is going to pick Penn in a rematch vs GSP, but I have no doubt that an in shape Penn, who puts the weight on constructively(and minus the GSP grease), will give a MUCH better showing.

| This is gonna be a very tough fight to pick a winner for. Everyone seems to be leaning towards Penn after his last fight with Ken-flo which was definately impressive.
However, I do believe Diego is the #2 LW in the UFC and I do believe he has what it takes to win.
Tough call, im gonna have to ponder it a little more before i'm ready to make a prediction on that.

| GSP would beat BJ Penn to death the next time they fought. | |

| Okay, after ALOT of deliberating...I have come to my decision.
I'm going with Diego Sanchez for this fight.
He fights at a furious pace, and idk if Penn will be able to have an answer for it.
Again, just going out on a limb but I think if Sanchez pushes the fight at his normal pace, its gonna wear Penn out alot quicker than any other fighters have recently.
I also believe Diego will come in with a better gameplan than ken-flo did.

| You can come in against BJ with a furious pace without leaving tremendous openings for a fighter of his caliber to capitalize on. | |

Better then holding Penn up against the fence and refusing to throw punches?

Just cuz I got the marbles to pick against penn here. I'm guessing you mean Diego isn't better than BJ at anything. Unless you mean what you say and are implying Diego is better than BJ. But then if Diego is better, how does picking him take balls?

| Diego has better cardio, a faster pace and probably better wrestling although it is close in that department. He also has a great chin, atleast as good as BJs. | |

He hasn't had his chin tested like BJ has, so there is no way to know if it atleast as good as BJ's. I haven't seen Diego get headstomped by Machida or GNP'd by GSP for 4 rounds. He does have a great chin, but I would rate BJ's higher because I have seen it seriously tested. He uses his wrestling offensively more than BJ, but I'm really not certain he is a better wrestler, nor have I seen evidence that he is. The only guy to outwrestle BJ was GSP, unless you count him gassing, but that is not a wrestling skills thing so much as cardio at Welterweight. At welterweight Diego has had better cardio, but so far at Lightweight he has not. He slowed down in both his LW matches in the third. I think the weight cut has been difficult for him. I am not sold yet.

| Jrug wins the prize for a correct fight breakdown.
Diego has a shot but BJ is just significantly better than everyone in this weight class.
