| Subject: Semmy Schilt on his way back to the UFC? Fri Aug 20, 2010 3:04 am | |
| From WKR
"Schilt has fought MMA in the past and says that he will be able to defeat Brock Lesnar. Talks with Dana White have already started and a 3 fight contract is a possibility."
This statement comes shortly after a situation arose between Schilt and K-1, where K-1 executives weren't amused with a joke Schilt made on a radio station, claiming the K-1 belt had been stolen. K-1 threatened to keep Semmy Schilt out of the next Grand Prix, and one ponders what exactly is the motivation behind that. It seems the path would be cleared for the likes of Badr Hari, or Alistair Overeem to take home the belt if Schilt wasn't involved in the next Grand Prix.
It's a valid suggestion that there's no truth to Schilt speaking with Dana White about a contract, and it's simply a play for K-1 to show a little love to Schilt. Schilt would certainly have some interesting match ups in the UFC's Heavyweight division, Pat Barry, Mirko Cro Cop, Shane Carwin...theres numerous fights that would be appealing. Let's see how it plays out, but I suspect nothing will come of this.
Update:
Dave Walsh of Head Kick Legend gets right down to business, he contacted Semmy's manager Bas Boon and received this comment:
"I have good contacts to Dana White and the UFC, but there have been no negotiations whatsoever since me, Semmy and Alistair met Dana in Ireland."
The newest rumor now, is that Stephan Struve is going to take some kick boxing lessons, and change his name to "Semi Schilt". More to come on this ever so intriguing story... | |
