| Former amateur standout who won silver at the Sydney Olympics.
Is the only man who's beaten Marcos Maidana, and has wins over Rees and M'baye.
Former WBA Jr Welterweight champion.
Has lost to Khan,Alexander,Witter and M'baye but all the losses except the Khan one were competitive enough where you could make a case for Kotlenik. |

| I can never figure out what underrated means. By what standard and by whom?
Anyway, old guy rant over.
He's a very competent professional. Technically he's excellent. Athletically he's only ok. He's one of those guys who just knows what he's doing. In my mind's eye he's not the kind of guy who should be ranked...but I also can't come up with ten better 140's so what do I know.

| You can say so.But i think it's more with Alexander maybe not being the fighter he was hyped up to be.Kotlenik is a tough mofo & should of won that fight.
Alexander the average just fell to 4th or 5th best JWW in my book.

| He's definitely underrated. He's the 4th best in the division, but always regarded as a distant 6th or 7th. He doesn't do anything spectacular so he will never gain popularity (at least over here). I think part of it too is that he got caught up as the caboose in the Devon Alexander hype train, and a lot of people were overrating Devon (who is still a great fighter).
At the very least he deserves more televised fights. |

Underrated in the sense that nobody takes him serious enough to be considered at top ten Jr Welterweight, people don't appreciate that Kotlenik's a good boxer because he's from Eastern Europe. |

I could be smoking crack but I don't think his geographic origins are the problem, not with the Ukranians and Adamek and Darchynian the Pirogi dude around I think the issue is more likely that the guy is competent in a wide range of skill and talent, but exceptional in none of them. How long did it take us all to appreciate Glenn Johnson?

| I am not saying he's the second coming of Carlos Monzon Marble just that people overlook him too easily. |

| His record is underrrated, in that he won last night but his record shows a 'L' | |

I hear ya! Like I said, in my mind's eye he just isn't the kind of guy who should be ranked, and yet I can't find more than 5-6 guys I'd put ahead of him. So I am exactly what you're talking about.

| I don't get it either. He is top ten in a good division. How does he not seem to deserve that? | |

Shouldn't be ranked even though Andy's the only guy out there who's beaten Maidana ? I concede I can't find more than 5-6 guys so of course he should be ranked. It's just that in my head I think of a certain overall quality level over my lifetime when I think of "ranked fighters" and Kotelnik ain't close to that image. Of course that image that exists in my head is about as important and meaningful as Floyd's myriad hypothetical victories
