seriously though - Water World was not as bad as the press made it out to be at the time of release. I'm not saying it's a great movie, but they were talking like it was one of the worst movies ever.

Hmm I'd say that classifies as underrated, even though it won an Oscar for best acting it's a movie that's already fallen off the radar.

I agree Ali it was one of those ovies that didnt make much money got the recognition it deserved but is already forgotten

it was GREAT I love that the football star from Fast Times turns in the performance of a life time I like Whitaker alot and he totally deserved that Oscar man he was good i nthat movie

I went and saw it alone at the theater (ya Im a loser and do that a good amount) then i convinced some people to go see it and they were all blown away

Jackie Brown -QT has never written better dialogue then he did here. Thats saying a lot. I can't believe the amount of people who claim to be fans of QT but don't care for Jackie Brown...i've met a lot of people who celebrate everything the guy has done(Death Proof included) but not Jackie Brown.

I'm not sure if this was already listed, but I loved the movie Out of Sight with JLo and George Clooney. I'm not sure if anyone actually saw it. I also love Boiler Room and Suicide Kings, which I don't think anyone saw either.

LA Confidential underrated King are you sure about that ?

Maybe not...i was thinking it lost out to vastly overrated The English Patient for the Academy Award making it automatically underrated...but it lost to Titanic which is understandable.

So, i swap LA Confidential for Fargo, which lost to the vastly overrated The English Patient thus making it criminally underrated.

Not sure if its already been listed, because its been a long time since I read this thread...but I was watching a movie last night and it clicked to me that it was a highly underrated movie.


Groundhog Day.

Groundhog Day is hugely underrated, I'm amazed there's still people out there that haven't seen it.

Also, going back to the beginning of the thread, I'm one of only a handful of people I know that has even seen Swimming with Sharks and its AMAZING! I thought that was some of Spacey's best work ever and most people don't even know about it.

Wo has underrated The Shining? It's considered a classic by anyone not diagnosed with downs syndrome I believe?

I think Gangs of New York was underrated.
