| This is the boards thread, not mine. I'll only ask you not to include, Sugar Ray Leonard, who eventually fought Hagler. Who said no to a bunch of millions and a sold out venue, whether it was PPV, Closed Circuit theaters of the 70,s and 80,s or what ever? Who walked away from millions of dollars and refused to fight in the biggest contest of their time. I'm not asking for a debate here. I'd just like to be informed. (Note: Hugo Corro vs. Marvin Hagler is no superfight.) | |

| Man this is TOUGH. In the days of eight divisions and one champ per this rarely happened. Back then the belt=money.
Most of these are gonna be a reach but here goes.
Roy Jones and Darius M would have been the biggest fight either ever had.
Up and coming Ray Robinson against fan unfriendly Charley Burley.
A coked up Aaron Pryor didn't sign to fight Duran for big money when he was given the contract.
But these are real reaches by your criteria. I am glad to say I think this fiasco is nearly unique in boxing.

| I believe it should be referred to as a two-time fiasco. Twice the biggest money fight in the history of boxing was not signed. | |

Convenient that he finally chose to nut up when he saw serious wear on Marvin starting to show in the Mugabi fight. Another reason why I really dislike him post-Hearns I career.

| Leonard was a welterweight fighting an ATG middleweight. Leonard also fought all the best welters. No contest between Leonard's resume and Mayweather's. | |

It's his oxygen. C'mon guys. The last thread I did about MW was positive. I'll admit that I am in shock that this fight is probably not going to happen. I have nothing else to say about him.

| The biggest problem with the negotiations last year and this year has been the impact on other fighters.
Many fighters from 140 to 154 have been left sitting.
Guys not wanting to fight as they wanted to be in the running for the Pac or Floyd lottery (PW, Berto, Bradley).
Guys wanting to fight guys in that first group.
It really has been a drag on the sport with much further implications than the two combatants.

| Holmes turned down a huge payday to fight Gerrie Coetzee due to the apartheid issue. Not sure if this would fall into the Superfight category. | |
