Who here thinks Diego Sanchez can beat BJ.

If you do how would he... Let me gues he would wear him down and then GnP him. I really don't believe he is the number one contender nor will he beat bj. Gray maynard has the best chance and I even think frankie edgar would fair better the Sanchez. I am a sanchez fan but I don't see what he has other then cardio that matches BJ penn's skill.

I personally think he'll fair better than Florian, but i don't think he beats BJ.

I will say. If Diego goes for 10,000 takedown attempts like Florian, he'll atleast be succesful once or twice.

nobody at 155 right now can beat him

I think Diego matches up well. His pace, size, & wild stand up could give anyone problems.

Now I don't see Edgar or Maynard standing a chance vs Penn, but I could see either of them beating Diego with their wrestling.

I think Diego can beat BJ.

And I called the BJ Penn winning that fight against ken-flo too.

Diego has some tools to do it. But BJ is still on another level. BJ by submission.

I dont wanna go spattin off just yet like people did for the Ken-flo vs. Penn fight. I knew from the start how good Penn is, especially at 155.

But Diego has looked every bit as impressive at 155 IMO. His standup is really good, and jiu jitsu is above average.

That being said, Penn still has way better Jiu Jitsu, but I think striking is pretty even between the two.

The wildcard here is if Diego can out wrestle BJ. I say no.

he'd have to get trained by GSP

Diego used to be over at Jacksons, but left when GSP came to the gym because he upstaged Diego.

I was kidding Wolfy, thats what everyone was saying about Florian, saying that cuz he trained with GSP or something that he was gonna beat Penn.

Seems to be alot of delusional Diego fans here. He barly beat Clay Guida, but he would beat BJ? He went to a decision with Joe while Kenny and BJ destroyed Joe. Sorry I just don't see it.

Dont get me wrong guys, im not saying Sanchez is a lock for a win. I'm well aware of Penn's capabilities, and have never doubted him in ANY of his fights.

Im just saying Diego has a chance at pushing the fight to a decision and POSSIBLY gettin a decision out of it.

How has diego looked every bit as impressive? he's 2-0 at 155 with a UD over stevenson and a SD over guida. Meanwhile Penn is 4-0 at 155 since he came back to the UFC finishing pulver, sherk, stevenson and florian. They aren't even comparable IMO.

Pulver is over the hump and past his prime as is Sherk. I think Stevenson underestimated Penn and came out with a lousy gameplan in his fight against him.

As was the same story for the florian fight.

how wasnt his win over Guida impressive? that fight is gonna be fight of the year, and the fact that Guida has one of the best chins in the game was the reason that fight wasnt a TKO.

I think any other fighter taking that kind of punishment woulda been KO'd.

I do agree the stevenson fight wasnt as impressive, but you cant say his fight against Guida was not impressive.

I don't rule out diego beating Penn. Yes Im eating crow off last night, but that has more to do imo with Flo's brutal performance then Penn being uber impressive. I have to believe that diego's standup will look significantly better then Flo's did last night.

Plus you never know when BJ will get less motivated and get lazy because he thinks he's too good.

He always looks great after a loss and when he's motivated by guys like Pulver & Sherk.

Diego will motivate him. Penn knows the fight game and he knows Diego is as stiff a challenge as Flo ever was.

I really hope so wolfy. That has the potential to be a phenomenal fight.

Diego's hands are 90% faster than Flos, and no disrespect to Mark Delagrote, but Diego's been working his hands with Oscar De La Hoya. Another level of striking training. Diego could have boxing on BJ's level when they meet.

It was a fun fight no doubt but bj would finish guida in the first or second. That is why I think that.
