| Wow. He really did drop some pounds. Good for Mike, he looks good.
Maybe he is really trying to make a small comeback? We know he needs the money. Can't help but feel for the guy a bit with all the people that took advantage of him over the years.
Hopefully his mind is in a better place these days, and maybe it'll come through in his training and performance in the ring. Not like the heavyweight division is loaded with talent either. If he's in form, he could make some good cash.

| Mike said in an interview I saw somewhere in the last 3-4 weeks that he lost weight because he needed to. His back was hurting and other health issues caused him to decide to get off his lazy butt and lose some weight. Said he wasn't contemplating a comeback. | |

Too bad the HW division could use Mike. Now dont bash me just hear me out. Mike is a draw no matter what. Also power is the last thing to go in a fighter so he could KO anyone. And lastly if he were to win a few I could see HBO pick up the HW's again. |

America just needs one top HW. We have none right now. How in the fuck has it come to this? |

America just needs one top HW. We have none right now. How in the fuck has it come to this? American Heavyweights don't get into boxing. That is the reality of the situation. American heavyweights today, are guys who couldn't make it in other sports. In other words, the real talented/athletic guys are playing basketball, football, baseball, etc. That leaves the 'other' guys as left-over essentially. That's why it seems like all our heavyweights are just some big guys who failed out of fat camp. These are the guys who couldn't make it in other sports, and picked up boxing later in life.

I know its sad. Hey I am one of those HW guys. I am 6' 4" 225 with an 81 inch reach and I chose basketball. If you are an athlete you dont say hey I want to get hit in the face for fun. NO you say I think I can dunk. |

| Big atheltic kids in the US aren't going to box. It is that simple.
I think there are various reasons: 1-NBA and NFL are better options if you have the athletic ability that you'll probably make it professionally in a sport 2-boxing is an individual sport; most people would rather be on a team than play individual sports (I'm 33 and that is how it was when I was growing up). 3-it is easier to play team sports when you are middle school and high school age- every school has football, basketball, baseball, soccer, etc.... How many schools have boxing??? 4-how many localities have boxing gyms to take kids??? I'd guess it isn't that many compared to places that a kid can play other sports.
