He must want to win overseas. My initial reaction to this bout was skepticism but I was busy when I watched it so gave it partially divided attention. It just seems strange that no one is able to escape his leglocks...besides Gil.

i dont remember gil having his ankle trapped uner the armpit like that
also Gil and Aoki were closer in size
rule of thumb in ankle locks, dont do it to someone with longer legs or get caught by someone with longer legs, they can apply even more pressure because they have more leverage and can apply more pressure when they torque then say a smaller guy torqueing a bigger guys ankle
Kawajiri looked like a midget next to Aoki and got trapped BAD like really really bad IMO

The rematch between Gil and Aoki will be interesting. He almost had Gil in a triangle at the beginning of that fight and this time when he gets rubber guard Gil won't just be able to walk over and put him up against a cage to get out of it.
I thought Gil said he was a taking a big chunk of time off though?

That is a rematch no one will care about. I don't think it happens. Gil was so dominant no reason to do it again. Anyways isn't Aoki training with those guys now?

I heard about that before the bout but after it I heard nothing else about it. I didn't think it was actually signed.

Kawajiri walked right into Aoki's shot. It seemed like he was thinking about landing a home run, rather then follow Gilbert's blueprint of moving on the outside and pot shotting him as he took shots from too far away. To beat Aoki, you have to believe in the game plan and not get too overagressive. Also, when throwing punches, your instincts to sprawl and push away have to be keen as Aoki doesn't mind shooting and pulling guard. Either way, good win for Aoki, though Kawajiri always seemed too wild to me and it cost him here by walking right into the range he should never have been in.

Aoki said he felt some bones pop, but Kawajiri wouldn't tap so to use his words, "At that point he knew he was in a death-match."
These Asians and their unwillingness to tap is ridiculous. Kawajiri probably screwed himself for a year or more. I thought he was overrated anyway, but a true warrior type.
As short as Tatsuya is, shouldn't he maybe compete at featherweight?

Yo why would you refuse to tap through some breakage but finally succumb? Takes away the warrior aspect if you eventually tap anyway? Sucks for the Crusher, he was Japanese MMA's only chance at producing a LW who could fight well with UFC or Strikeforce elites.

I don't know why he would refuse to tap against a guy who has made a name injuring opponents who don't tap instantly? How many arms/legs/ankles has Aoki fucked up without a second thought when given the chance?
neither do I, my point was simply that everyone knows he won't hesitate or lose sleep over it. I just question these guys refusing to tap when the only alternative is long extended time periods out of competition.

just to make sure, I dont for one second blame Aoki for breaking the leg, these idiots have to tap!
I love that, more people should go for the kill with subs *cough* GSP *cough*. Then we wouldn't have so many tough guys trying to fight through subs. Go for the finish, you want to avoid injury then tap, simple enough.

Failed sub attempts work my nerves. If you can end a fight then end it. This isn't the sport for Mr.Nice Guy. I lost respect for GSP when Hardy was able to walk out the cage injury free. No excuse for that. If you can finish, finish as fast as you can. You better tap fast or avoid that position.
