| Coker Wants Thomson vs Kawajiri & Aoki vs Melendez 2 http://steverattlesnake.cliquezone.c...ch-in-dynamite - Coker would like to promote Josh Thomson against Tatsuya Kawajiri in the U.S. - Coker was impressed with Shinya Aoki’s win over Kawajiri. He said Aoki looked much more comfortable in a ring than he did in the cage against Gilbert Melendez. He’s working on a rematch between Melendez and Aoki that would take place in a ring on New Year’s Eve in Japan. - Coker would like to match Brett Rogers against Lavar Johnson. | |

| Obviously not the hot topic matchup we all want for gil. I def think Aoki in Japan is a fight that should happen, but it can wait.
Still he has good relations with Dream, and he should keep that going. It also shows his leveraging power over Bellator.
The Thomson Kawajiri fight, and the Rogers Lavar fight = lovely.

| Like Thompson/Crusher Like Rogers/Lavar No need to see Gil/Melendez again, guess Coker is worried about Eddie. | |

| For some reason I still want to see Gil-Aoki in a ring where Gil can't just stack him up if Aoki gets it the ground. It would be a lot more interesting
Crusher/Thomson is awesome

| It's not that he is worried about Eddie it's that Bellator isn't being realistic. Check some blogs about Rebney. That whole thing is fishy. | |

I don't mean to deny that actually. Dana White when he was young and paying his dues learned the hard way when UFC champions were getting beat outside the UFC on the regular. Shit, the only reason Werdum gets the love he does at all and another reason Fedor gets/got the love he does/did is the result of losses from that era.

| what about Eddie signing a 3 fight non exclusive contract with SF? Think Rebney would allow that? | |

No way! Well it's looking alot like Coker is not just going to sign up for Eddie vs Gil even if the fight is under the SF banner on showtime or CBS. And being as how Bellator has much more to gain while SF has alot more to lose, it seems fair for Coker to feel that way. Add in that Coker has the leverage in that he has way more options for Gil then Bellator does for Eddie, then I think it's obvious that Rebney has to give a little more if he wants this fight to happen. And it's not as though he'd be giving Eddie away, just allowing him to fight for SF as well as continuing to fight for Bellator.

he didnt however he did want to wear them against gil. his last 3 opponents have not been at the level of gil or eddie of wich both he preferred to wear them in. his 2 toughest opponents to date. i do agree with you though about eddie being overrated

| Kawajiri had been ranked higher than Melendez consistently over the last two years until Melendez's recent success. He is still ranked in the top ten. | |

| They've already got a deal with DREAM, so it's easier to make those fights happen. |

| They have a young talented champion who they have no problem calling #1 in the world. He has no problem calling himself #1 in the world. But when he calls out other top ranked guys who want to go, Scott gets real scared and talks of seeing a rematch of a, brutal to sit through, 5 round dominating snoozer. It's good business because Eddie beats Gil up and Scott is fully aware of it or he wouldn't be running from the chance to show otherwise. He dosn't think Gil is the best LW. | |

^THIS^ I want to see it too but it should wait. Eddie should get to fight Melendez first, but I understand why Coker would be scared of that.

disagree, and my main reasons are this. 1)Gil vs Aoki 1 was as dangerous a fight as Eddie vs Gil. 2)He is not worried about Dream moving in on his US market share. That concern is just not there, but bellator is a US competitor. 3)coker need not rush into this deal, it will be there, but he can flex some muscle and show that he does not need the Bellator fight. I agree it should get done, and it looks like Coker(or maybe it's Showtime/CBS?) is the sticking point, but I think Coker has every right to use the leverage that he owns as the bigger organization with better fighters. He has WAY more options for Gil then Rebney has for Eddie.

| I'm coming at this from a balls perspective. I don't give a shit about money because I know what it is. But I say this
1. Gil/aoki happened recently. It was one sided and fresh enough in my mind that I do not want to see it nor would I consider it as dangerous. Why would anybody want to see this again so soon? I don't really know anyone who does.
2. Moving forward with dream is like trying to throw a transparent veil over my eyes. Especially in trying to sell Gil/Aoki 2. Gil proved he is better in dominant fashion. I will always be a fan of people in the same sport competing against each other, organization structure and good business don't do shit for me as a fan, they are anti-fan, they just segregate and factionize a bunch of athletes who all are doing the same thing. It's all about balls to me. Taking all the safest business moves shows a lack of them to me.
3. This is where the money is, this is what the fans want to see right now, this is what the fighters want. If Scott though Gil would win he wouldn't run away from this. He is insulting his champ. I bet Gil leaves soon anyways.
With all of the talk from Gil, Eddie and now among fans for weeks, at this point, pussing out of this fight hurts SF more than anything. Makes them look weak and scared.
