BoxingScene.com was advised that the proposed IBF/WBO/IBO heavyweight title match-up between unified champion Wladimir Klitschko (54-3, 48 KOs) and mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin (19-0, 14 KOs) has officially been moved to the date of September 11, one week ahead from its original date of September 18, which was reported earlier as the bigger possibility.

The venue will be Commerzbank Arena in Frankfurt, Germany, which seats around 55 thousand people. The final choice was made by Klitschko's company, K2 Promotions, who had won the purse bid last week.

American television network Showtime was interested in televising the fight on a tape-delayed basis. The network was going to package the heavyweight bout with a tentative fight between featherweights Juan Manuel Lopez and Rafael Marquez, scheduled for the same day. Because the fight has now moved to the date of September 11, Showtime is reportedly no longer capable of televising the fight.

Showtime's rival, HBO, doesn't have any interest in televising the contest. Unless some agreement is made, Klitschko-Povetkin will likely be offered to American boxing fans as a pay-per-view event.

Just shows you that a soccer stadium now outweighs an American network.

The Money for the Klitschkos is the live gate and the German TV. US TV is just the cherry on top.

I think Wlad takes care of Povetkin, but this isn't the situation where the guess is what round does Wlad stop messing around and KO the opponent (as was my thoughts on some of the other opponents). Povetkin has a shot at winning. Not a great shot, but enough that it is worth watching.

We'll have to find a link online for that fight.
