Great fights on Showtime this weekend

We're past the lull and should have some good fights on the way.

July 9
At Atlantic City, N.J. (Showtime): Mike Jones vs. Irving Garcia, 12 rounds, welterweights; Antwone Smith vs. Lanardo Tyner, 10 rounds, welterweights.


If these fights don't springboard Jones or Smith to bigger things, it's a perfect set up for an eventual fight between them.


July 10
At San Juan (Showtime): Juan Manuel Lopez vs. Bernabe Concepcion, 12 rounds, for Lopez's WBO featherweight title; Nonito Donaire vs. Hernan "Tyson" Marquez, 12 rounds, for Donaire's WBA interim junior bantamweight title; Eden Sonsona vs. Jonathan Oquendo, 10 rounds, bantamweights.

I'm most interested to see how Sonsona will rebound because I think everyone else will handle their business.

2 solid double headers. I think the 4 favorites will win but the fights shouldn't be walk overs.

Yup, some good fights friday and saturday Gumby, JuanMa vs. Concepcion, and Nonito Donaire vs. Hernan "Tyson" Marquez should both be entertaining, and action packed. Unless someone else does one, I'll likely start a "let's score it" thread for the fights Saturday night.

Highly disappointed in Nonito fighting Tyson Marquez, who just got spanked in his last fight. Nonito is a favorite of mine, but he really needs to step it up, even if Bluto won't allow him to fight Vic.

looks good i like Showtime, they do so much more with their budget than HBO

just think if they had HBO money to throw around, same with StrikeFOrce and Showtime

they put on great shows with a budget 3 times smaller than their main competitors
