| I've never liked him. Something about him always came across as fake and even when he was knocking guys out I thought his flurries looked like they were just for show. I've pegged him as the ARod of boxing. I do remember always being excited for his fights, I understand he was really good, and I know he was the most popular fighter in the world for a while. But I've never met people who disagree and make a case for him as their favorite fighter.
Other thoughts? |

| He was very good, not great, as he lost most of his big fights. | |

I will not say he is an ATG but he was a great fighter. He is an easy HOF fighter and won what 6 titles? I liked Oscar as a fighter he was classy and respectful. As a promoter not so much. Besides as a promoter he is not doing anything but showing his face. |

| Great fighter and was a shot in the arm the sport desperately needed at the time. Oscar is/was great for the sport of boxing.
I also never get tired of watching Oscar vs Mosley I ... Great fight.

| Like him or not, Oscar had one of the most sucessful boxing careers ever, doesn't he own the record for the most money made off of PPVs? I'm not a fan, but I do have a lot of respect for Oscar. | |

| let me punch some holes in the list you have there for Mayweather. Yes he didn't fight firefighters and policemen. 1-Genaro was at the tail end of his career (but still a pretty good win). 2-Baldomir was the worst lineal champ at 147 I've ever known 3- Zab was coming off of a decisive loss 4-Mitchell is a midget. He had no business fighting above 140. 5-ODH-the same ODH that steve forbes marked up 6 months later and Pac retired a year later. Roach said after training ODH against Mayweather that ODH no longer could pull the trigger. He was right 6-Hatton-once again, pick on a little man. Hatton sucked at 147. Got a gift against collazo. 7-Marquez- an old Mexican who can't carry above 135 pounds. His body at 135 looks like it is pushed to the limits. 8-Corley-he was coming off of a loss to Zab
I used to love Floyd. I was an unabashed fan. I used to think he would be an ATG. Then he became a great matchmaker instead. I saw the light. I stopped believe his garbage.
He picks guys coming up in weight who shouldn't be: Hatton, Mitchell, Marquez He fights guys coming off of losses: Zab and Corley He fights guys past their primes: Genaro, ODH

My other thought is if I was a chick I would bang him!

| catain all excellent points on floyd and his fights ala baldimar marquez plus gatti was very popular with a lot of heart but an elite club fighter at best..yet i feel floyd indeed is a great fighter with talent dispite the fact that he refused to fight good tests.williams was one and hes slipping now. cotto when he was unbeaten and margo when he was on top and shane is shot..and one or two other avoided fighters. on oscar noo doubt a storybook career and extremly popular fighter who did test himself often..excellent power good jab and handspeed and a excellent chin..he had many fine attributes indeed..hes very good and what ill call a near great to a fringe great ..one of the top 10 or 12 of his era which had some excellent fighters at the top..oscar came up short on all his big big fights thats the only minus about him..im not a fan of his and i most certainly discount titles won by many fighters cause its phoney..come on gain 10 lbs and your in 4 weight classes and each class has 4 or 5 champs...saying someone won 4 5 or 6 titles is the most overated stat there is ..it simply means you gain 10 lbs and beat a few contenders in there weight class..big deal.10 lbs in reality is ONE real division..this goes for oscar floyd camacho leanard and the rest who are given praise as a champ in several divisions..its BS like the wbc commision is...oscar made a fortune and had the simple vision to keep it and then use good business sence to go further..smart intelligent indeed..was he a plus for boxing..of course. | |

Yes he didn't fight firefighters and policemen. 1-Genaro was at the tail end of his career (but still a pretty good win). AND FLOYD WAS 21 2-Baldomir was the worst lineal champ at 147 I've ever known 3- Zab was coming off of a decisive loss FORMER LINEAL CHAMP 4-Mitchell is a midget. He had no business fighting above 140. FIRST FIGHT AT THE WEIGHT CLASS 5-ODH-the same ODH that steve forbes marked up 6 months later and Pac retired a year later. Roach said after training ODH against Mayweather that ODH no longer could pull the trigger. He was right. NO THE ODH THAT WAS A YEAR BEFORE FORBES 6-Hatton-once again, pick on a little man. Hatton sucked at 147. Got a gift against collazo. CASTILLO MUST NOT HAVE HAPPENED AND YOU MUST NOT HAVE WANTED THE FIGHT AS MUCH AS EVERYONE ELSE DID, REMEMBER WHEN FLOYD WAS SCARED OF HATTON 7-Marquez- an old Mexican who can't carry above 135 pounds. His body at 135 looks like it is pushed to the limits. WHAT PLACE WAS HE P4P??? 8-Corley-he was coming off of a loss to Zab AND SHOOK UP COTTO
I used to love Floyd. I was an unabashed fan. I used to think he would be an ATG. Then he became a great matchmaker instead. I saw the light. I stopped believe his garbage.

Your talking about Mitchell like he's something to gloat about, he was a tune up opponent, decent win nothing more
That's like calling a series sweep of the Royals a GREAT win streak

| Mitchell was a pretty good fighter at 140. But he was 35 when Floyd faced him. And it wasn't at 140, it was at 147.
It wasn't just age, Mitchell was well onto the downside of his career. He fought Kostya in 2001 and retired in the 7th round with a knee injury (in a fight that was competitive). In 2004, in the rematch, he was stopped in the 3rd round (after having been put down 4 times!).
He wasn't the same fighter and was fighting above his best weight.
