| I hope they do an interm title. Nog probably deserves it the most, but I'd like to see Ace at least get a crack at the LHW title after all he has done for the UFC in the last two years. I'd be happy with either fighter facing off for an interm title. I wouldn't want Machida in there just yet, because that means we'll be almost guaranteed this succession of LHW fights - Machida vs Evans, Machida vs Rua, Machida vs Rua, Machida vs Evans, Machida vs Rua. | |

| Since Shogun is out until next March, I think you could setup a contender fight
I wouldn't cry about Nog though.

| There really isn't anyone else unless we start looking at Bones, Bader or Franklin. Machida needs to fight someone else for gods sakes. | |

I don't want it to happen...but I think it would sell nicely....Anderson vs Rashad, I said it joking yesterday, still half joking.

| Then likely five title fights at LHW would feature Lyoto Machida, Evans and Rua. No one else is worthy? | |

| There are so many great possible matchups at LHW right now. It sucks that the title will be held up for so long but there are a shitload of contendor matches that could be made. | |

| Honestly the division doesn't seem that loaded. There are a few matches out there that are possible and interesting but the division is still a far cry from it's bloated status a couple years ago with Wandy, Liddell, Jardine, Henderson ect out of the fold.
The only possible contender fight out there that could be made today is Nog vs Page. Page don't want Machida and that fight would only be interesting from the perspective of how deflating it would be to Rampage's career. He'd never fully recover his status after a Machida fight. Never. That fight cannot happen.

You have those group of guys that all need 1 really good win to a title shot, so just put them against each other. Why not? The winner of those fights will have decent enough claim to a shot.

| It doesn't seem that way because now Shogun is back to form and Machida is the clear cut #2 Light Heavyweight in the world. Those two are a level above the rest according to most. Suddenly Light Heavyweight looks alot like Welterweight in that regard, although that line of thinking is a little premature.
You still have Rampage, Forrest, Machida, Franklin, Rashad, and Minotoro that could all make a run at the title.

Evans, himself a former champion, earned another shot at the title with a May win over rival Quinton "Rampage" Jackson in the main event of UFC 114. While waiting for Rua means Evans now will be sidelined for approximately 10 months, "Suga" said it's a price worth paying.
"At this point, unless they come up with an interim title, then I'll wait," Evans said. "Having a chance to fight for a title is a once-in-a-lifetime chance, and I consider myself to be very lucky that I got two chances." http://www.mmamania.com/2011/5/9/2162133/dana-white-i-was-right-rashad-was-wrong-to-sit-out-for-his-title-shot - Quote :

problem with us. He and I are fine. We squashed all the stuff that happened before. But, I have to admit, and he knows it, and he's gonna have to admit pretty soon too, I was right. I was right and he was wrong. Here's what you don't do in the fight business, you don't sit out and say ‘I'm gonna wait for the title shot and I'll sit out for a year and wait ‘till this guy - who just blew his knee out - heals.' That's insane. You're a young guy, there's a small window of opportunity in the fight business. And, you have to stay busy, stay consistent, and keep fighting. He thought it was wrong. Shogun - he thinks he's gonna get that fight, he gets injured. Then he's next in line, and he's getting ready to fight again - his opponent gets injured. And now he's in line for another fight and the kid's been sittin' around for almost a year and a half, hasn't fought, has ring rust, and hasn't got paid in a year and a half."
