Darren Barker will defend his EBU middleweight title against Matthew Macklin at the LG Arena, Birmingham on Saturday September the 18th. Frank Warren, who won the purse bids for the fight, is using the bill as a showcase for some of the biggest names in his stable with Sky TV set to televise.

EBU champions, Nathan Cleverly, Enzo Maccarinelli, and Ryan Rhodes will feature on the undercard of the eagerly anticipated Barker-Macklin clash, British heavyweight boss Derek Chisora faces Commonwealth kingpin Sam Sexton, Michael Jennings will face Kell Brook, Olympic middleweight Gold Medalist James DeGale, former Commonwealth super-flyweight title-holder Don Broadhurst and 2007 World Amateur Champion Frankie Gavin complete the line-up.

It is an ambitious card and a lot depends on whether all the fighters can make it safely through to September, always a big if in British boxing, especially with Barker and Rhodes both tied to rival promoters and Brook having been in trouble with the police for his extra-curricular fistic activities; however, the depth of talent on display should ensure a good night for Birmingham's boxing-mad sports fans, who have been crying out for a show like this.

“I’m delighted to putting on a card like this,” said Warren when announcing the show. “I always try and please the fans, and I think they will like this one. It is fantastic to be back promoting huge shows on a Saturday night, and there is no way better way to start than by putting on something like this.

“It will showcase some of the best talent around at the moment in British boxing, and I think everyone featured on the card has the potential to kick on and fight for a world title. Some of the boxers like Enzo Maccarinelli, Michael Jennings Ryan Rhodes have already done that and are aiming to get back to the top, while the likes of James DeGale, Nathan Cleverly and Kell Brook could be the future of the sport in this country.”

This would be a good stream. It's the best of British boxing condensed in 1 night. Why couldn't Khan be a part of this?

He's no longer part of Frank Warren's stable.

I'm happy as long as someone can get us a link for the proposed British fighting extravaganza.

Not bad for £15, could imagine if Golden Boy copied Frank's idea, it would be one of the greatest cards ever.
