Fighters you're ashamed to admit you like.

I think we all have one. I certainly did. Clue? He was fat, bald, short and wore stars and stripes on his trunks. He never made it above club fighter status. In fact, he was a bit of a side show act. However, I had a lot of fun watching him and with “Butterbean” there was never a dull moment. Of course I kept it to myself. That little part of me that thought he could do what he predicted, “Knock out Mike Tyson” was never exposed in front of other people. And for good reason. No, Butterbean could not beat world class fighters. However, if those same fighters had his passion for the sport they claim to respect, we’d have a helluva lot more excitement right now. Some may say that his girth was a sign that he never trained seriously. I say, some athletes just compete better fat. There’s a difference between George Foreman, who was a lot of muscle and girth (Sort of like an NFL Lineman) and some flabby, baby fat boxer who has no strength. So I’ll admit to respecting Butterbean and his dreams. I really knew he’d never become World Champion, but I’ll be damned if I didn’t have a great time watching him try. Who else has a fighter they’ve been keeping in the closet.
