| 12,600 people attended
to put that in perspective UFC 61 with Ken vs Tito 2, Andrei vs TImmy 3, and Wanderlei telling the world he wanted to "fuck Chuck" had 12,400 at Mandalay Bay
good sign for SF atleast they are getting good crowds

| They usually have much more attendees in San Jose but i imagine tickets to this event were much more than the usual SF at HP events. | |

| I am not trying to be a homer, but Cung put asses in the seats and so did rumors of Frank having an announcement. It was in San Jose. Fedor fighting was huge, and prolly the biggest factor, but it wasn't just his name alone. | |

this is good news for the organization Oh I agree big time. I think the numbers would have been just as big if you take Fedor off the card and add in Diaz in San Jose. That city supports SF big time. Cung, Frank, and Nick are a huge draw there. It was packed the last time Cung fought.

| SF PPV=FAIL! UNLESS???
Fedor vs Werdum main event and have the first four MW tourney fights. I would pay 49.95 for that in a heartbeat. They would have to STack a card for a PPV and it would be huge for SF if they did. If they play with the big boys, they better come BIG!

| That is their "home court", similarly to Vegas for the UFC. | |

| PPV is a bad idea right now that Fedor lost. Had he won, we'd already be reading MMAjunkie reports about the rumored dates of the upcoming PPV.
They can still do one though. Do a show on CBS. Give Fedor his immediate rematch and Overeem a fight with Antonio Silva on the same card, winners face off on PPV. Spice up the card with a personality filled showdown between Nick Diaz and Mayhem miller, using the brawl to hype the fight. The only problem with this idea is a PPV only feels feasble with Overeem and Fedor circling the waters. Should Werdum or Silva win, it kicks the buyrate in the pants, and should they both win it destroys any chance of a marketable payperview.

| PPV 4 Fedor Werdum rematch? Nah.
Fedor Overeem would have worked, but not now. I think those plans need to be pushed back at least a year. Get these Heavies back on CBS.

Just wonder if SF will be around in a year Hendo losing, Mousasi losing, Fedor losing and Jake bolting really hurt a lot IMO. I think that combo could spell serious trouble.

| Possibly SOONERS, but star driven promotion that depends on this guy or that guy winning never lasts anyway these days. The fights have to be competitive and entertaining. Strikeforce puts on competitive matchups and have generated a lot of upsets in the process. To me, the hardcore MMA fan anyway, that is more rewarding than EliteXC type promotion where hand picked matchups and mythology rule the day.
Strikeforce would have to lose a lot of money before they'd go under, and to the best of my knowledge they've not lost much money if any. Their live gates have been good, and outside of a few free agents have not spent too much on fighters and have let guys walk that weren't in their best interests like Huerta, Kimbo, Shields and Karo.
I don't know if Strikeforce can continue to challenge the UFC at this level without Fedor, but I certainly don't think they're in danger of collapse.

Just wonder if SF will be around in a year I never sig bet, but this is such a gimme, I'm in if you are? Strikeforce going out of business within a year? No chance.

| I was just doing that to bust your balls, but they have taken big hits lately and I don't see them as any comp to the UFC at all, they may stick around, but they'll drop off as an Org. | |

I'm guessing this is a ball busting post as well, the org has grown tremendously in the last year, and your predicting a drop off. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

| Not this time, their most marketable fighter just lost and they're losing their second best fighter. They also have 1 fight left with Fedor without any real idea of whom to pair him with. Others in the thread agreed. Why are you such a big SF fan anyways, that Org is run like shit, their production is the worst in MMA and they have a limited stable of fighters. MMA would be better off if they went under. | |

| completely disagree LA, then UFC would be an even bigger monopoly
King Mo, Dan Henderson, 1 Fedor fight, the man that just dethroned Fedor, Overeem, Babalu, Le, Jacare, Mayhem, Diaz, Mousasi, Gil Milendez, Lawlerm , etc, etc. they have plenty of options for fights and will continue to produce
in the past 2 weeks we saw a good fight between Babalu and Lawler and Fedor dethroned vs Werdum doesnt sound like a shitty league to me

| Strikeforce isn't run like shit at all. All things considered they've done a great job. No one else has made money or been successful promoting MMA at a major level besides the UFC. LA with all respect to the guy, by appearances gets too competitive and somehow identifies himself with the UFC and this "conflict", and has a personal stake in Strikeforce failing. This leads to the exit of objectivity. I don't understand brand loyalty to such extremes myself. MMA is about the fighters not the promoter. Strikeforce is awesome and puts on awesome shows and good match ups. I don't pretend they have the fighters the UFC does but they've never claimed to. The UFC "side" makes this a rivalry when it's not.
Normally most bitching about production and things like that are reserved for bias people who rag on any and everything about a promotion but Strikeforce does seem to have more production issues when compared against Bellator, who pulls shows off smoothy every time. Not that big of a deal though.
You like the UFC? Great, so do I, I order every UFC event. Hey, you know what, you might like Strikeforce too!
