Shane Mosley more interested in the Sergio Mora fight

After holding an afternoon meeting with Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, Shane Mosley (46-6, 39KOs) appears to be inching closer to a fight with fellow former champion and stablemate Sergio Mora (21-1-1, 6KOs) at the agreed upon weight of 154-pounds. The fight would take place on September 18 at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Schaefer presented Mosley with three options - which included the fight with Mora. The other two options were a fight with WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto, and a catch-weight encounter with WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez.

After taking a beating in his decision loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. back on May 1, sources close to the situation suggest Mosley didn't feel ready to fight someone on the level of a Sergio Martinez so soon. Berto was unwilling to budge from a 50-50 split on the money, which left Mora as the likely option.

The September card will be a pay-per-view event that Golden Boy plans to tie in with the Mexican Independence Day festivities. Junior middleweight prospect Saul "Canelo" Alvarez will see action on the show.

This better not be the headliner cuz if it is its definitely a PPV i will NOT be buying. Throw Marquez-Khan on it it would be more intriguing.

Also. Berto is a fucking idiot. Idk what Dibella is doing with Berto but standing firm on a 50/50 deal with Shane tells me Berto/Dibella are still scared of the big boys at welterweight.

I don't think Mosley beats Mora or Martinez.

I could see Shane beating Mora but looking awful doing it, similar to the Ricardo Mayorga fight but without the highlight reel knockout to save face.

Shane's got one thing helping him here, Sergio Mora struggles to make 154lb, but I still think he'll have enough to frustrate Shane and make him look really bad.

I'm worried about Shane's health at this point. He very well may be a shot fighter. As a fighter you need to go out and do everything you can by age 32 or so. Then walk the heck away.

Calzaghe fought to an advanced age, but walked away before taking damage (and hopefully doesn't come back). Hatton got laid on his back by the 2 best fighters on the planet. He smartly hasn't come back.

Well Shane isn't helped by the fact he's friends with a guy in his forties who doesn't want to step away.

Oscar needed a brutal beating to convince him to retire.

I agree. Mora could be weakened trying to melt down to 154.
