| They may have to, as it appears Khan is going to stretch out a string of as many hand picked opponents as possible. Khan controls his career. | |

| I don't care to see a guy with a trinket at 140 trying to clean out 135.
Khan is turning into a joke. Maybe Khan will ask Caballero to come up a couple weight classes after the Marquez-Diaz winner.

| Why is he going to pick on smaller guys? Diaz looked horrible in both his fights above 135. 135 is as high as Marquez can effectively go.
Before talking about those two fighters, it was Katsidis. Another smaller fighter.
There is Maidana, Alexander, and Bradley. If they don't want him to fight one of them, at least take on a top 10 ranked fighter at 140. Then the opponent will have proven he can fight effectively at 140 pounds.

| I'm officially rooting for Khan to get dropped.
I don't even care if he doesn't fight a top guy at 140. Fight someone at 140! The division is real deep. He's cherry picking Lightweights before they have a chance to get adjusted to the weight (the extra 5lbs means something).
JMM, Diaz, Katsidis and Murray are all easy wins for him right now. I don't care about any of those fights. I hope Zab looks great on FNF and calls him out. |

| Khan isn't picking Marquez, Diaz, or Katsidis because he needs big names to make money. He can make a hefty chunk of change fighting anyone legit. | |

| He already fought Marco Antonio Barrera, he may as well go after JMM or Diaz seeing as Katsidis and Cassa fell through. Isn't Erik Morales available ? LOL !! | |

| Amir should be going after the big paydays, he'll need it the next time he runs some poor sap over. | |

or to cover his legal bills when he sues the crown for human rights violations. It is blatant racism that the British TV networks are only paying him a few meager million dollars per hand picked fight and the public are only filling 20 000 seat arenas to watch him. It's tough being Khan, just ask him.

| In fairness to Khan, he has dealt with racist taunting from some in the UK, and I remember BNP chief Nick Griffin spewing all sorts of garbage about him.
But his whining about not being as big as Hatton is dumb. It took Ricky years to get to where he was at his peak of popularity, Khan has only been fighting since '04 and has one KTFO loss against a mediocre fighter.

There was an article where Khan and Freddie were telling Golden Boy they wanted Maidana but Golden Boy weren't interested. Sounds like Khan needs to get a new manager. ...or a new promoter..doesnt a fighters wish count anymore..

- He's not fighting again until December. I think that is enough time for a fight with Bradley or Alexander to be made. Bradley is only fighting at 147 because he couldn't get Khan or Alexander. There is no doubt that Khan is the fight Bradley wants the most.
I don't blame him for not facing Maidana this summer because it now appears that Maidana has legal issues on his end. The only reason Bradley is fighting at Welterweight is because he's become a sell out who wants to chase paydays. |

Golden Boy are choosing fighters that HBO will accept. |

Khan has final say who he fights. Khan is the boss, not GBP.

| Well this is disappointing. He shouldn't be fighting either of those guys. Not blaming anyone just disappointed. | |

| I agree %100 with Rafael's take:
I love promoter Gary Shaw's desire to make a junior welterweight tournament. He mentioned his fighter, Timothy Bradley Jr., along with titleholders Devon Alexander and Amir Khan and perhaps Marcos Maidana or Juan Manuel Marquez to round out the field. But it was no surprise that Golden Boy, which handles Khan, Maidana and Marquez, declined.
Khan would be the money fighter in the field because of the riches he would bring from British television. But he's also the guy Golden Boy most needs to protect at this stage of his career. His chin is fragile and as good as he is, he's not ready for Bradley or Alexander.
There is a reason why Khan was matched with Paulie Malignaggi on May 15 -- because he has zero punching power. There's a reason why Golden Boy's Richard Schaefer most often mentions Marquez, Michael Katsidis and Joel Casamayor as future Khan opponents. It's because they are all lightweights, smaller men who would have to move up. I think they are all perfectly fine fights, and this is a business. I get that. Khan fighting any of those three would be fine. I could just do without anyone on the Khan side spewing nonsense about how Khan will fight anyone, blah, blah, blah, when it's very obvious he won't, at least not yet.
If Marquez beats Juan Diaz on July 31, I wouldn't mind at all seeing Khan-Marquez in Las Vegas in the fall. It's a pretty big fight. In the meantime, I look forward to seeing how Bradley handles himself at welterweight against Luis Carlos Abregu in a nontitle bout on July 17 and to seeing Alexander wipe out Andreas Kotelnik on Aug. 7. Hopefully, Maidana can overcome his managerial issues and get back in action soon as well. Schaefer mentioned a possible fight him in his native Argentina this summer before a bigger fight in the U.S. in the fall.

| I see no need for a tournament, all we need is the Alexander vs Bradley winner to face the Khan vs Maidana winner. |
