| WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto is looking for a big fight, and he's ready to take some chances to get it. A few weeks back, Berto's promoter Lou DiBella advised BoxingScene.com that his fighter was willing to move down a couple of pounds to face any of top guys at 140-pounds. The money at 147-pounds has dried up. Shane Mosley is taking some time off. Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao are interested in each other. Berto watched Miguel Cotto's victory over Yuri Foreman to capture the WBA junior middleweight title this past Saturday at Yankee Stadium in New York. Cotto is not a big junior welterweight. Most of the top guys at 154-pounds will give him a lot of problems. Following the Foreman win, Cotto acknowledged the possibility of moving back to welterweight. DiBella tells BoxingScene that Berto is willing to move up a few pounds to 154 - if a fight with Cotto is available. "Andre Berto would move up to 154-pounds, for a fight with Miguel Cotto. Berto would move down a few pounds to fight any of the names at 140 and he would move up up a few pounds for a fight with Cotto," DiBella told BoxingScene.com. http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&id=28371 |

| I think this is the perfect fight for both guys. Berto, in my opinion, has all the natural talent any fighter would need but lacks basic fundamental skills because of a poor trainer. Cotto has seen better days but is a fundamental gem. As a ring general, he'll run cirlces around Berto and appear to be closer to his prime than he actually is. On the other hand, Berto may be able to use his natural speed and power to open some of Miguel's cuts and make a go of it. I think it's a good deal for both because they'll look better against each other than they actually are. | |

| It won't happen, it's hard to believe Berto will ever step up in class. Cotto wod beat Bertos ass if it would ever happen though. | |

http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&id=28371 I don't get it. These two oughtta meet at 147, shouldn't they? If not go to say 150. There is ZERO reason those two have to go all the way to 154.

Miguel struggles to make 147lb, he eats alot when he's not fighting. It wouldn't really make a difference what weight they fight at, be like Martinez meeting Williams at 160lb. |

Miguel better not get too comfortable at 154. He is so physically disadvataged in that division it isn't even funny. A 67" inch reach??????

| At whatever weight I'd love to see the fight. I have a lot of questions about both fighters. Kill 2 birds with 1 fight.
At any weight I think Cotto outclasses Berto. |

My guess, he gets comfortable at 154 Favorable match ups for him vs the likes of Angulo, Chavez Jr/Duddy, Cintron, Mora, Spinks, even Williams. Plenty of $$$$ to be made

There is only really two guys he needs to avoid at Jr Middleweight, that's Sergio Martinez and Sergei D. The fact Paul Williams doesn't use his reach or size advantage over his opponents gives Miguel a slim chance. |

| Cotto would be well served to avoid Angulo and Cintron. If he had to face any of the top 4 at 154, it would have to be Cintron.
If Cotto fights Berto it should be at 147. Lets look at 147. Cintron is gone. PW is gone. Mosley just looked bad vs Mayweather.
Mayweather faces Pac (hopefully, though I won't read any more stories until the fight is signed).
Who is the logical opponent for Mayweather vs. Pac winner? The winner between Cotto and Berto would be at the top of the line.

| true the winner of a berto-cotto fight should meet the winner of floyd-pac unless pac beats floyd and cotto beats berto..either way cotto has some tough fights ahead..im not sure hes comfortable at 147 again..if so then take the best fights for you at both weight classes..dispite citrons so called reach and height advantages i think cotto could do well against citron...if cotto doesnt do serious damage in the first 4 rounds against angulo he will be eaten up for sure by angullo... there is in the future some tough matchups and good fights for him.. | |

| I wouldn't mind a Cotto-Berto fight. I'd rather see Cotto fight Ryan Rhodes though. I'd like to see how Rhodes does. | |

| Cotto should move right back down to Welter and sign on for this fight. He shouldn't waste any time. Berto is not a huge puncher and has a very amateur style that Cotto can exploit. Cotto beats the brakes off of Berto. I would have said bang with Cintron at 154 with Steward in his corner he has a huge advantage (Steward use to train Cintron), but I think we'll only see Kermit on Versus until he redeems himself if ever. | |

No reason to believe Cotto can discourage Angulo who is a TERRIBLE style matchup for Cotto and I have no idea how Cotto gets close to Cintron to land body shots given Cintron's seven inch reach advantage. What are Cotto's demonstrated weaknesses? EVERYONE hits him and he isn't very durable. I think Angulo and Cintron both blow him away at 154.
