Carl Froch vs Arthur Abraham headed Montreal ?

...according to Mick Hennessy they have an agreement for Sept 18 in Montreal.

It really ticks me off that this fight has been postponed by more than a month due to Froch being difficult. THe Super 6 will never wrap up if the fighters start threatening to pull out everytime a location is not to their liking. Still, Montreal is a good choice if they can't agree on a European venue.

According to Carl Froch's promoter Mick Hennessy, the upcoming Super Six clash with Arthur Abraham is heading to Montreal on September 18. Froch had refused to fight Abraham in his backyard of Germany and Abraham was refusing to fight Froch in Nottingham.

Hennessy told UK newspaper The Guardian, that Abraham-Froch was heading to the Canadian city. It's hard to believe because the contract called for a venue in Europe and both sides were exploring venues in different European countries. Froch at one point made a pitch to hold the fight in America. Abraham's promoter Sauerland Event turned down an American venue because the contract called for a venue in Europe. Froch in turn threw water at Sauerland's pitch to stage the event in Sweden.

"Carl knows that he has to win to stay in the Super Six," said Hennessy.

when they made it, did they not already set contracts for where the fight was going to be held?

The contract wording only specifies somewhere in Europe. Froch refused Germany, (even though it would net the most money by far), Switzerland, and Sweden.

Froch wasn't being difficult, he was told the fight was going to be in Nottingham so he's got a right to complain. Plus look at Karmazin on Saturday, no way Froch gets a decision in Germany. Abraham also refused to fight in Nottingham

The main reason it was pushed back is because Froch has injuries to recover from. And obviously he doesn't want to be training when Rachel gives birth.

Montreal would be a good venue, I take they would use the Bell Center ? I wonder if Froch has a small fanbase there because of the Jean Pascal fight.

Abraham would get a fairer shake if the fight was in Nottingham than Froch would get if the fight is in Germany. Any venue in Europe outside of the UK hugely favours Abraham and any Sauerland promoted fighters for that matter. Look at Sauerlands history of their own promoted fighters getting robberies over American, South American and British fighters on events that happened in Europe. Holyfield vs Valuev comes to mind as a great example, that fight was held in Switzerland which was apparently a "neutral" venue.

Yet Haye got an undeserved decision against Valuev in Germany.

Good that works well for us US fans and the fighters. They can fight and we can watch it in Eastern standard time. The fighters won't have to fight at 3 in the morning. Sucks for the British and German fans but who really gives a fuck about them anyway? USA USA USA!!!!

With all the cancellations and postponements happeining lately, I am very upset that in a tournament with firm previously agreed to contracts certain fighters still cannot even manage to fight every 4 months without postponments.

I agree Ali, but 4 months? I mean come on. If you are active (fighting at least 4 times per year) you only need a 4 week camp at most to prepare. So if the fighter takes 2 weeks off after a fight he should be ready to fight in 2 months, 3 if you allow healing time for a minor injury.

These fighters talk like they are being asked to fight every month. 3 fights a year is not asking too much for a tournament. Part of the drama of a tournament is battling thruogh cuts and aches and pains.

The inactivity of todays fighters is getting out of hand.

I agree with you, the inactivity of some fighters is ridiculous.

To be fair on Carl he's been pretty active these past couple years, Pascal,Taylor,Dirrell,Kessler and now Abraham in September. He's earned a break to recover and wait for his first born.

I agree with your whole post except for Froch deserving a break. He agreed to a tournament. Hershman made it clear the fighters have to fight every 4 months.

Anyway, I am getting a bit carried away, but this issue (postponments, cancellations) is really getting on my nerves.
