"Right now I have a couple months off, so I've actually been toying with the idea of maybe going down a weight class. Since I don't have a fight for a couple months, I've just been watching what I eat and see how my body without trying to put size on; what my natural weight will fall now at now since I have lifted a lot lately to add size. I'm kind of curios where I think I would fall at. Because some of the guys I train with that are light heavyweight, bone structures are the same. Sometimes I stand next to Forrest and I think I'm in the wrong weight class."

That guy realizes he stands no chance vs the Brocks and Carwins or the world. I don't think he can make 205. That is a crazy ass cut!
That said if he does somehow make it, I want him to get his ass beat by Lil Nog.

Forrest already whipped his ass in training. He wouldn't have shit for any of the other top guys either.

Horrible idea.
I want to see Mir move to Strikeforce.

I do actually think Frank could make this cut, yeah he tried bulking up huge, but his last fight didn't he come in at like 238? He isn't carved from stone like Dos Santos, I see it being tough but also possible.
That said, the fights from him at 205 would probably be as tough as at HW, instead of getting overpowered he'd get outclassed.

Uh, he weighed in at like 264.99999. He was just as big as Shane.
If he makes this cut, he was juicing for the kongo and carwin fights

Frank's gone as far as he can in the UFC heavyweight division, his only options at this stage are a Big Nog rematch and the Nelson vs Dos Santos winner. If he stays there he'll become a gatekeeper.
He should move to Strikeforce while Fedor is there.

I think this would be a tough cut for Frank but I think it would be interesting to see what he could do at 205. Obviously it's the toughest division in the UFC, however, I'd like to see how his BJJ would stack up against the guys at the top of that division. He would definitely be bigger than the majority of guys there. I'm interested.

Frank still isn't that far away from another shot at the title. Dana personally likes Frank and their families are friends, and if Frank wins his next fight or two he is back in the mix. Frank is in a good division right now for immediate title glory, as there are a lot of well regarded contenders out there that a victory over would reinsert his name in the title hunt. He is a two time* champion and his only losses have come in title fights since 2006. If Kenflo can already be back in the picture at LW, then Mur is certainly in the title picture at HW.
If Lesnar were to lose, Frank would be the first choice for Lesnar's next fight, and the winner of that would likely jump over whoever is next waiting in line.

I dont see how Mir could beat lesnar at this stage. Brock is getting better as Franks seems to be the same or maybe starting to decline alittle with age. He was extremely lucky to beat brock the 1st time and I dont know what he could do to beat him again.

I think he could lose 25 lbs. Why not? Then after that it's a 35 lbs. weight cut. There are welterweights that make that big of a cut.

Mir isn't used to cutting and he isn't getting any younger. He won't have a speed advantage at LHW and when was the last time a top ten LHW was submitted? 1976?

Forrest subbed Shogun...
Anyway, the point is that you're right, no one in that division goes to the ground unless it's to wrestle or lay n pray. Frank would surely test these dudes on the ground, even from his back.

Forrest's sub over Shogun is valid I suppose but when did that happen? Three years ago? How rare is that? Anyway, Shogun was mentally defeated, exhausted and was half TKO'd at the time. RNC's aganst gassed and broken fighters are scored a little differently as far as I'm concerned.

If Frank could make the cut, I'd be willing to bet we'd see some very solid, if not top 205ers getting subbed.

Not a chance in hell. Rashad has great sub defense, Forrest has great sub defense, Shogun when not fighting on no gas and no camp and no knee has great sub defense, Rampage apparently has some of the best sub D in MMA history, Machida has great sub D.
Who is he submitting? Babalu owned him in a grappling match. Mir's claim to submission fame are wins over Roberto Travan(who) Poopy who has 5 foot arms and terrible sub defense, and Lesnar in his second fight ever.
IMO Mir's grappling is one of the great overrated skillsets in MMA.
No one gets sub'd at 205 guys. Mir get's KO'd at 205.

How many times have you seen Rashad, Forrest, Shogun, Page, or Machida when someone is trying to submit them? Come on, how many times???

Bigs, I'd counter that there is a reason why no one tries to submit them. Many of those guys I have seen fight off many sub attempts anyway, like Page, who never the less is the only non BJJ blackbelt of the bunch.
Frank Mir wouldn't submit any of those guys. Frank Mir only submits ogers who don't know how to defend armbars and kneebars. My opinion.

Mir's grappling skills have always been overrated, he'll be completely outclassed at LHW as opposed to being overpowered.

Frank Mir makes Lyoto Machida tap within 1 minute.
