The WBO has ordered a very attractive jr. middleweight championship bout between champion Sergij Dzinziruk and interim champion Alfredo Angulo. Promoters for fighters have been given 15 days to reach an agreement or the bout will go to purse bid (minimum bid is $200,000). Angulo is promoted by Gary Shaw Productions and Dzinziruk is promoted by Gary Shaw Productions and Banner Promotions.

Its a toss up IMO. Sergei has the ability to outbox Angulo, but if Angulo lands clean, it will be intresting how Sergei will react to the power of the biggest puncher in the division. No doubt Sergei will win most of the rounds, but Angulo is tough and will keep a high pace for as long as the fight lasts, so its going to be a rough fight for the undefeated champion. IMO, its time Angulo fights for a title and I think he has a good chance of beating Sergei. Angulos first loss was a Fluke. He was clearly sick, and I still saw him come out with a draw. He almost had Cintron out in the 12th and lets no forget, he only had 14 fights before facing a former champ. I know Angulo is Shaws favorite fighter and close friend. Angulo has lived with him for camp and even went to Shaws fathers funeral. THis fights to be made is all in Shaws hands. Hes not going to put Angulo in a fight he thinks he wont win.

I see Sergei winning pretty easily if this fight happens.

It's like every Angulo fight: we know that he can be outboxed, the question is, can you survive 12 rounds of that intense pressure? I haven't seen enough of Sergei to really pass judgement on him, but I don't think he's ever quite been in the ring with a killer like El Perro. I wouldn't be suprised if it ends in a late round TKO for Angulo.

I would love to see this fight next up for both fighters, but Shaw promotes both and I think he has other plans.

Yes, that's going ahead in July regardless. Shaw tried to get the WBO to approve it for the interim title but they declined. The WBO has now given them 90 days to make a deal.

I agree Ali
Sergei is a disciplined boxer, should school El Perro
I think Shaw is still pushing for Margarito vs Angulo, like to see either fight - would enjoy Angulo getting a boxing lesson or seeing Margarito get KTFO

Sergei will hand Angulo his second defeat. Shaw is moving Angulo along too quickly.

Sergei should out-box him, but if he gets caught, Angulo will be all over him like the "Perro" he is. Would be a good fight, but I would rather see Margo vs Angulo, that would be an all out war!

As much as I dislike Cheato I think that's a great fight, Shaw was talking about it being brought to the staples center, what a great atmosphere that fight would generate.

+1
Big roadblock though, Margarito needs to get licensed
Im sure Arum would love that fight as well, huge gate, any network would eat it up

Yeah the license is a big problem. Will Margarito's fight in Mexico have jeopardized any chance of getting his license back ?

Ivan Goldman wrote an article bashing Margo in the latest copy of The Ring, and mentioned that apparently the CSAC's new chairman won't allow Margo to be up for to regain his license until he answer questions about the Cotto fight, citing the pics of his hand wraps afterwards.

Interesting
From what I knew, the previous CSAC chairman was as corrupt as they come
wonder if this new cat will fuck up Arum's plan of getting licensed again
If anything they could stage this fight in Texas

New guy is a former amateur boxer. He already said he doesn't believe Margo's story that he had no idea that the wraps were loaded, adding that anyone whose ever boxed would know the difference.
It seems like this guy, John Frierson, actually knows what he's doing. Armando Garcia was a corrupt, incompetent slime ball, who only went down after sexual harassment claims started to surface.
Texas is probably were Margo will get his cheating ass licensed.

Garcia went as far as to get a MMA card shut down on behalf of a rival promoter. There was some huge lawsuit filed (far more than the show ever would have made) and he STILL was allowed to remain in his position. Not to mention the politicians who were getting free ringside seats for boxing/MMA (Arnie included). This douche went as far to ban muay thai and san da fights (San Da is basically Chinese muay thai, only difference is you can toss the opponent down). Muay thai eventually was allowed, but San Da is still banned, despite having more gyms for it than any other state in the country.

Interesting. It would do Antonio alot of good if he actually just came clean about it all, trying to blame it all on his trainer is cowardly.
