Title bout All Time Lightheavyweight championship Empty
PostSubject: Title bout All Time Lightheavyweight championship   Title bout All Time Lightheavyweight championship EmptyFri May 21, 2010 4:06 pm

Ran through the game a while back one-time for each bout and this is how it played out in a double elimination tournament.
15 rounds, 3 judges, no knockdown rule.

Its all a game, but still , there were some very suprising results. We are talking about the greatest here, so anything could be possible. Still, it seemed a bit odd to me that Ezzard Charles (my pick for greatest ever at 175) would go out by early KO or that Roy Jones would fail to earn a single win in the tournament. (of course he did draw a couple tough matches for his style)

WOW those are some startling results. Conn over Foster? Really? TWICE? Virgil Hill over Saad and Harold Johnson? Huh!

I do think a good case can be made that the right guy won.

Boxing Lawyer, I'm really glad to see you here. However, as usual we disagree. LOL Spinks over Moore? Archie Moore? I don't know. Not taking anything away from Michael Spinks at all, but Archie has 130 kos to his credit. Hell, maybe you're right. I just can't see it.

Actually, they are not MY opinions at all, and I disagree with a couple of the results pretty strongly. Its the results of a computer game (title bout) that I found laying around here. Its actually pretty in depth and I thought it would be fun to see what the results were. The game actually suggests running a bout three or more times to get a "average" result but I thought running it once made more sense and replicated the kind of shocking upsets we get in boxing from time to time.

Good thread. Next time leave out the computer. You're a lot smarter than the particular computer you were using.

i guess with great fighters like these anything is possible but i definitely think that jones beats dariusz and loughran beats maxie.

How in hell did Loughran and Rosenbloom never fight? Loughran fought from 1919 to 1937 mostly as a light heavy and Maxie fought from 1923-WWII mostly as a light heavy. Together they fought what? 400 fights? How the hell did that happen?
