| Just interested on what some of your opinions are on these crossover fights and if they are relevant to the whole Boxing vs MMA argument? I dont know much about Mayorga, is he really good? | |

| mayorga is a brawler he's not much of a boxer the more he brawls the easier he is to hit and i think in this case w/ the element of kicks added din stands somewhat of a shot in the stand-up department but still i would take him down and pound him out now w/ the couture toney fight randy's best shot is to take him down and pound him out because standing w/ toney would be a very bad idea | |

| Toney s Randy
two guys old as dirt, that are legit hall of famers in their respected sports
also Randy is a top 10 fighter of the last 20 years in MMA, same with James Toney in boxing

| Ricardo Mayorga wasn't even a great boxer, he was an brawler who threw wild looping shots.
Jon Anik annoyed me yesterday by claiming Mayorga vs Thomas was some sort of significant Boxing vs MMA fight. |

| How fast Toney moves on his feet will be interesting to see. He might not have too. Randy might walk into him, if he is stupid.
The big names are where it's at though.

| Honestly, i say Mayorga-Thomas because Mayorga is a former champion and was put in bouts with the best boxers around his weight class. Din Thomas is and always was a solid but middle of the pack fighter. So, should Mayorga lose it would be a lot more of a hit to boxing than if that fatass James Toney went in there and got pressed humped against the cage for a couple rounds until he gets submitted or something.
I guess it goes both ways. If Toney beats Couture it looks bad for MMA in the tired comparison with boxing, but if Thomas beats Mayorga it looks worse for boxing than it would if Couture beat Toney. Atleast Couture is one of the greats and stylistically and physically, a terrible matchup for Toney.
at the end of the day though. Toney-Couture has more bragging rights because significantly more people know of and will see the fight because of the difference between UFC and Shine
