SF: LA will have Lawler, Lashley, and Noons

Two weeks after Strikeforce officials first announced their intentions to hold a rare mid-week fight card in Los Angeles, the promotion has now released the first three fighters that will appear at the event.

Bobby Lashley, Robbie Lawler and K.J. Noons will all fight on the Showtime-broadcast portion of "Strikeforce: Los Angeles," which takes place on Wednesday, June 16, at Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.

Opponents for all three fighters will be named at a later date.

I bet they don't want to announce Mayhem till Jake makes up his mind. Cause if by some small chance Jake doesn't go to the ufc I bet he would be fight Mayhem.

They might being trying to force Sheilds to fight 1 more time. I think he is still under contract for a couple months and they said they could still get 1 more fight out of his contract. Might be trying to get Jake to fight Mayhem before the contract expires.

Yeah but wouldn't it kill SF if Jake subbed him? Then the MW divison takes a big hit with one of their top guys losing and the other leaving. Atleast if Jake leaves you can say Mayhem fought him close and argue he is just as good.

If anything KJ should just fight him at WW. I mean they don't exactly have a long list of WW contenders. Might as well ask KJ to go up in weight.

But if Im SF, And i'm trying to find an opponent to match with Shields, I want someone who has a good chance of beating him. And I don't think Mayhem does. Plus the 1st fight was a bore. I'd give Lawler another shot at Shields. Or Jacare

this should be cool, add in we know Lawler is facing Babalu, hope Lashley faces someone with a pulse and Noons is facing Diaz or someone competitive

A lot of that was sarcasm. SF doesn't put on enough events to expect to just throw out 3 guys and have them all face no names. My point was just that I get tired of their "Bobby Lashley vs TBA" BS followed by waiting until like a month before to find out who the hell they're fighting

Man SF is taking a lot of unfair flack about how they match fights up, even after they went and risked their champions against the champions of another organization in one off title fights.


Brett Rogers is ranked higher than Alistair Overeem by nearly all rankings. Overeem had a short window to fight in and needed a credible opponent. It's either Overeem vs Rogers or he fights Arlovski, who just lost by KO to both Fedor and Rogers, or someone outside the top ten entirely like Lashley or Bigfoot.

At this exact moment in time, according to Overeem's short window of availability, who else was available that would offer a challenge and be a respectable top ten opponent?

So bobbit would rather SF just kept matches under wraps until they were final? Or maybe Strikeforce should just throw together whatever fights as soon as possible, instead of taking their time and finding good opponents?

Just because they don't have the resources to book fights the same way the UFC does, doesn't mean they deserve hostility for the job they do. The perspective gets really, really slanted.
