Oscar Bonavena was one of those fighters that had the bad luck of being a heavyweight in the greatest heavyweight era ever. He would have won a title in almost any other era IMO. He was fan friendly and was capable of going 15 with Frazier and Ali and even knocking Joe down a couple times.

Oscar Bonavena was only 33 when he was found shot dead at the Mustang Ranch on the outskirts of Las Vegas. Willard R Bryner a security guard at the ranch shot Bonavena at point blank range with a high powered hunting rifle, for sleeping with Bryner's wife or girlfriend. Cant remember. Bonavena died instantly and just like that the "Argentinian Strong Boy's" great career that had wins over Zora Folley, Karl Mildenburger, and George Chuvalo came to an abrupt and sudden end.

Bryner served less than ten years for murdering Bonavena.

Oscar had broke no law.

Ben Roethlisberger better take a good hard look at how Bonavena's life ended because being kicked out of Pittsburg or the NFL isnt the worst case scenario. Someone's boyfriend or dad might come after him if he keeps winding up in these stupid situations.
