| It shouldn't be looked at as which base has the most champions etc. It should rather be seen as which martial art base produces on average, the most competive and successful mma fighters. In that regard, wrestling takes it. However, individual athletes can always trump each other, so the answer to this question should be based more on averages and a whole, rather then citing someone like Machida, since there aren't that many Karate based fighters who have found success like he has (not considering that his wrestling is pretty freaking good). | |

| i voted wrestling, just the work ethic, the weight cutting, the mentality in drives into the athlete all seem to be great for evolving into mma. Wrestling and jiu jitsu are a goood start | |
