| What bitter irony. Hardly anyone doubts Penn and Silva are better fighters than Edgar and Maia in every way, but both turned in truly forgettable performances yesterday. Silva was called a disgrace by UFC president Dana White, and Penn looked pedestrian enough that the judges and some fans were duped into thinking Edgar somehow won that fight.
I can't get over how terrible the last cycle of fights has been for the UFC p4p elite.

| I was saying he got robbed because I read play by play after play by play and all scored it for Penn and scored it for him big. I read the sherdog play by play live yesterday at work and it looked like Penn was going to take a lopsided decision.
I said it appears he was robbed, then upon watching it it was confirmed to me. I kept an open mind going into watching it. Edgar did absolutely nothing to win the title.
BJ was robbed. He won the fight. This event was a complete joke and maybe the worst UFC in the last 50.

| if that wasn't BJ Penn in there and instead just some random fighter, more people would think Frankie won. But because of who BJ is and his legacy, people think it's impossible for him to lose to a guy like Frankie Edgar. Reality check people. BJ got pushed to the limit in a very close fight, and he didn't do enough to earn the decision. | |

| i can see it going either way, but imo Penn didn't do enough to win the decision and i think Frankie deserved the win. He was the better fighter on that night imo. | |

| If Dan Hardy vs GSP looked just like this, and GSP lost this type of decision, the internet would explode.
People allow emotions to influence them way too much.

| i know what i saw. For you guys to try to say that this fight was a robbery, i honestly dont see that. What did BJ do to win the fight? Even the rounds he won were close. Bj was outpaced the whole fight and that was clear in the 4th and 5th when Frankie took those rounds. I have no problem with the decision, it was a close fight that could have gone either way. There is no sense in calling this a robbery, that is a complete overexagheration. | |

Machida/Shogun ws closer than this, I thought it was a clear 3-2 rds for BJ, and all but one place scored it either to BJ (or a draw at one place I forget which)

| I think its funny that people say Frankie outpaced BJ when BJ threw and landed more. YES, Frankie had more movement, NO he did not land more. | |

That's right about where my scorecards were. Penn 3-2 Silva 4-1 The fight was close, and BJ had the cumulative edge through 5 rounds. But this was like a pick pocketing compared to Shogun's mugging. Hence the nearly universal reaction differences abound. Though there is plenty reaction to this loss, but it was a closer fight I think. The biggest outrage in this whole situation to me has everything to do with judging once again. A 48-47 card in favor of Frankie is as far as I could ever imagine a poor but close score being judged in that match. But a 49-46 and a 50-45 is inconceivable to me.
