I had it 48-47 as well. Just my opinion, but I had Edgar taking the last three rounds. He was more active, landed more, and by the last round BJ looked exasperated. He couldn't really catch him with anything other than the jab, which was working pretty well. Edgar was mixing it up really well.

I'm so disappointed that BJ's title reign ended that way.

Edgar is an excellent fighter but that was just gross and ruined the event for me. The main event didnt help matters much.

i can't fuckin wait to see the fightmetric on this.

I will say Penn did not look like himself out there. I wonder why he didnt listen to his corner and look to take it to the ground. Penn wins a rematch unless he decides to eat it and go to Welterweight.

I had Edgar winning it 3-2. It's not like Penn was surprised or even seemed to care about the decision. He just left the octagon right away.

Just a very surprising non-committal performance by Penn, which makes me appreciate GSP even more, even if he doesn't "satisfy" everyone because he doesn't finish fights.

I am a huge BJ fan but the fact is you cant argue a decision when you allow it to reach the judges. 50-45 though I think not! The only and I mean ONLY round that was decisive was the 5th for edgar. Other then that the fight could have gone either way and people would have disagreed. I see Penn winning a rematch and actually coming in with a gameplan instead of being so arrogant to think he could just show up and counter anything his opponent throws.

But either way it will be used as an excuse or the reason why the fight went the way it did.

well, the way the fight went was that BJ Penn won and got robbed by the judges...so no reason to use the leg as an excuse but i guess BJ didnt explode once in the fight but i think he was just playing to what Edgar was doing and i think he was winning that.

Frankie definitely did not beat BJ. But he possibly did win a decision.

BJ's face does tell a bit of a different story. It wasn't a beat down or anything like that but at that weight Penn doesn't usually get marked up from someone's strikes.

Grazing strikes cause cuts like that not solid punches. The only real solid punch landed by edgar came in the 5th.

Yeah, im not saying this is Hamill-Bisping proportions or anything but it definetly goes against the logic that was used when Machida defeated Shogun by decision. You have to BEAT the champ. Edgar didnt do that, let alone the fact that he was probably outpointed in the actual fighting porttion of this matchup...unlike Shogun who outpointed Machida.

I sort of agree with you. We must remember that the judges see the fight from one angle and that frankie did throw many more puches(even though Penn connected more) they may think that he landed some of those when we all saw that most were like your daughter punching you.

Frankie didn't want to be on the ground with BJ, who would at that weight class?

So your saying Frankie did more damage to BJ then BJ did to frankie? And your saying Frankie "beat" BJ? I am saying your hallucinating. I can see Frankie winning a close decision because neither fighter was ever dominant and the only clear round was round 5. Is Edgar a better fighter then BJ? HELL NO!

Never said Edgar was the better fighter, I think BJ is. I think Frankie did do damage to him no way his face looks like that from grazing shots. Anyone that thinks Frankie didn't land anything but grazing shots is hallucinating.

I said he landed One solid punch. He did land other pitter patter shots but nothing substantial.
