| http://www.mmamania.com/2010/3/2/1333522/wec-quick-quote-brian-bowles-says"I knew that I was gonna win that night [against Miguel Torres]. I felt unbeatable going into that fight. I've never felt that good before. I was just totally calm and I was so sure that I was gonna win that I thought something was wrong because I was so confident ... I rocked his world and left him thinking about me night and day. If he wins and I win, he'll get a chance to fight me again... He may think that he's a totally different fighter now, but he's still the same fighter. Things come slow when you make changes a style you've had for so long. Another fight between us would go just like it did last time." | |

| Looks like we're going to have a case of Kenny Florian and BJ Penn but smaller. Torres can't beat Bowles but no one else can beat Torres. | |

| I think the first fight was too small a sample to see what would happen in a rematch. | |

Not really like BJ to Kenny at all, no one can beat Kenny at LW besides BJ?

I dont have the best memory.. so I dont remember exactly what happened .. but I dont remember thinking that torres "cant" beat bowles... I am going to wait for the WEC event coming up but at the moment I am picking Torres in the rematch..

| After seeing what happened the first time, I have to agree, Bowles is just flat out better than Torres. Plus Torres takes way to much damage, Bowles will connect and drop him.

| I pick Torres in the rematch right now but after the next event, hopefully I have better reason to or reason to pick Bowles, we'll see. I think he just got himself caught up in some bad shots from Bowels and couldn't escape the tko. Doesn't mean he can't win though. He has some pretty unique moves and has shown to be a pretty tough dude. | |

| Yeah I am reserving my opinion on the rematch until after this next event. I want to see if Torres cleaned up his striking any. I also want to see what Bowles does when put in danger. | |

This is where I disagree. I think there is a few fighters at 135 that could beat Torres. If Torres vs Mizugaki was a 3 round fight, Mizugaki would have won a decision. During Torres's reign the division had very little depth. It has progressed significantly since then with the emergence of Bowles, Cruz, Benavidez, and Jorgensen. Also in the future you will see young Chad Mendes make a huge splash at 135.

| LA and Ninja are both correct here.
Another thing lost in this debate here is how similar their bigshow records actually are. Torres actually has the less impressive record in the WEC or against ranked opposition. Most of Miguel wins are throw aways.
LA ; I think Torres has enough talent and athleticism to become a smarter fighter and decrease the damage he takes. I believe he may be able to succeed even without the wild exchanges. He did rock Bowles in their first fight, and his speed and length still looked good, even against someone as good as Bowles.
I think he realizes not everyone he fights will be small Japanese 133 lb fighters who can't bust a grape. I think he is past the "I fight for the show" mentality now that he has been stopped.
The first fight was a wake up call for Torres. How will he respond?

| I don't think Torres will just win...I think he will fuck Bowles up this next time around. I think Torres is going to show he is the man at 135 and remind us why everyone in the world had him as a top 5 P4P fighter for so long. | |

Yea...it was around summer 2008 that he first appeared on any p4p lists, with wins over Chase Beebee and Yoshiro Maeda, which were good at the time but looking back don't measure up as much as wins over Ribero, Valencia and Page. Bowles has been fighting top talent in the WEC since 2007.

Bowles has been fighting top talent in the WEC since 2007. He was in the top 5 of everyones list for about a year, he was on every single top 5 P4P list when he lost. Top 5 P4P is a pretty high ranking.

Looking back he was probably too high, but he deserved to be on the list. I think he will remind people why they fell in love with him. Now I may be wrong on this but I got the feeling Torres will show his exciting style in an impressive win. I think he will climb back into that elite status of MMA fighters. Again I could be wrong here, but I think Torres is a warrior.

Really? Bowles is bigger, stronger, has better boxing, better wrestling, solid bjj, hits harder, and has a better chin, Torres will get caught and finished.

Bowles is bigger, stronger, has better boxing, better wrestling, solid bjj, hits harder, and has a better chin, Torres will get caught and finished. Why do you say he has a better chin? Hard to say when he only has 8 fights and the only time Torres has been KO/TKO in 40 fights was his last fight. I think Torres has a great chin just got caught off gaurd. Again I could be wrong but I think Torres will win and win impressively. He is very active, he does have a solid chin, he is motivated, and there is a reason why so many people fell in love with him. The man is a flat out warrior. We will see how it plays out and I will be the first to admit I was wrong if that happens to be the case.

| I'll give you that, it was more opinion on the chin, but the rest of those are undeniable. And there normally isn't big KO punchers at 135 anyways, so it be tough to say how good Miguels chin really is. I know one thing, Bowles hits hard, and Torres puts himslf in trouble, dangerous combination. | |

I agree Bowles is a different kind of animal then we usually see at 135. He does have amazing power for that weight. I think(keyword here) that his chin can hold up though, especially now that he knows exactly what he is in for. Maybe I'm just hoping the fighter I loved to watch re-emerges with that exciting fast paced style. I just think some people are shrugging off his very long win streak and impressive 37-2 career record. I know Bowles is very dangerous but I think the warrior in Torres will fuel this victory. Again I could be eating crow after the fight but I think my boy will bounce back big.

Just dismiss it for a guy looking great SO FAR with less then 10 fights under his belt? I'm not saying Bowles doesn't have a chin or could infact have a better chin. I'm just saying I don't think you can say that at this point, time will tell.
