| The California State Athletic Commission has released a statement:
Barnett's June 25 drug test came back positive for 2a-methyl-5a-androstan-3a-ol-17-one, an anabolic steroid. CSAC learned of the results July 21 and immediately denied a license for Barnett. CSAC also informed the promoter of Barnett's August 1 bout against Fedor Emelianenko that the bout would not be approved.
"The license of Josh Barnett was denied pursuant to rule 303 of Title IV of the California Code of Regulations," said CSAC Interim Executive Officer Dave Thornton. "That rule prohibits the use of certain substances, including anabolic agents, by any boxer or MMA fighte
Watch Kalib Run raises some very interesting questions:
The actual anabolic steroid that Barnett tested positive for is Clostebol as 2a-methyl-5a-androstan-3a-ol-17-one is the metabolite of said steroid. Clostebol is actually a weak anabolic steroid. As with all steroid tests, they are not actually testing the for the drug itself but the metabolic waste in the urine of the athlete.
One study found that Clostebol metabolites, though not the one Barnett tested positive for, were found in athletes who had eaten meat from animals that had been treated with anabolic steroids. Another study found that incidental Clostebol contamination has been found in athletes after sexual intercourse though for such a contamination to occur the individuals would have to be taking medication with trace levels of Clostebol. | |

| And I don't but that he ate meat that happened to have it in it. You could tell from his initial statement that he had something to hide. Just my opinion but thats how I see it. | |

| Ah, careful Watch Kalib Run... The athletic commissions and pro sports that test for performance enhancers are very careful in judging the amounts of substances that are present. It's not as if there is enough of a substance in a few steaks to trigger a positive. With most of these "weaker" steroids, they are looking for 300-400 times the normal amount in the body. Not the specific steroid mind you, but an equivellant testosterone producer. So in order for the positive test to happen, Barnett would have to have likely eaten an entire side of beef over the period of a week (Considering what little of the drug in said animal isn't pissed out dilutes itself throughout the entire body of the 1,000+ pound beast). My estimate might be a bit under or over exaggerated, but I think the point is spot on. You aren't getting a positive test from eating a T-Bone or two...
Edit due to spelling... Either fat or fast fingers...lol

| If Barnett is later cleared of this matter after Affliction is ruined as company this may actually be good for roids/drug testing which is all but a witch hunt as evidenced by Martina Hingus' career execution in tennis two years ago. | |
