| Awesome fight. Overeem always takes on the best competition which is why he's one of my favorite fighters out there today | |

| He's signed with K-1 and plans to fulfill that contract. This isn't that shocking. | |

I disagree. Stripping him of his title won't get him to the states any sooner. I agree with Coker's plan to wait until after Fedor-Werdum to take action with Overeem if he is still not coming to the states. I really don't believe Overeem is ducking them. He was set to fight Rogers and Werdum on seperate times last summer but he was having trouble with a legit broken hand from beating up security guards. Coker said Overeem's deal is mainly for the 2nd and 3rd quarters of each year and Overeem was not available anywhere during that time last year...he didnt even fight K-1 or in DREAM during that time pretty much proving his injury was legit. Anytime before August of last year, Strikeforce had nothing for him so bringing up the two years is pointless. Basically Overeem has not faced up to his contenders in Strikeforce for about 6-7 months.

| Kings I must admit you're the only Overeem apologist I have ever talked to. Even in Dream he has ducked legit competition. He turned down a fight with AA to face Fujita.
He is a joke. Strip him.
Everyone knows he won't fight in the states and why.
Strikeforce has this tiny hope he'll come to the States even though he has said as much as he will never fight for them again before, and they know if they strip him all hope is lost.
This is the only freakshow in Strikeforce.

This is the only freakshow in Strikeforce. Dream nixed the Arlovski fight because Arlovski is a nobody in Japan while Fujita is a well known... In Japan, Fujita vs. Overeem would probably create more buzz. It was said that the promoters nixed Overeem/Arlovski even though both fighters had agreed to it, not Golden Glory. The guy has fought some of the best LHW ever in Chuck, Shogun, Belfort(x2) and Rogerio(x2), Arona . He has already fought legit comp at HW in Sergei(x2), Werdum, Mirko and Buentello. He has fought very good competition in both divisions. Why would he wait until he pretty much became the incredible hulk in stature to start ducking top competition when he fought the best guys out there when he was a lanky youngster? Also, he is fighting top competition in K-1. So why is he ducking MMA fighters but not guys like Badr Hari? The thing with Overeem is just like i said, his Strikeforce contract is for the 2nd and 3rd quarters and he was not available for Strikeforce, Dream or K-1 at that time last year. He did not fight at all last summer. Overeem may not be a great fighter that everybody made him out to be all of a sudden and i never said he was, but nobody gave a fuck about Alistair defending his Strikeforce belt until August 2009...now it's like he's been holding them up for the last 2 years and he had challengers that entire time. Is Overeem overrated? Most likely. Is he ducking Strikeforce? no

Because everytime he fights someone good he loses? He lost to almost everyone you named who was worth a shit. Dream didn't nix that fight, AA's handlers did. Overeem is a scam.

| If King's points are real then I can give SF a semi pass. But when your champ hasn't fought for the org in more then 2 years, AND you have the p4p GOAT on the roster in that same division, then expect heavy criticism. | |

Yeah but it's unwarranted IMO. There was NOBODY in Strikeforce for Overeem to fight after he crushed Paul Buentello. When they got Rogers and Werdum he was out. The no fights he had over the summer backs up that his injury was legit. Coker has said that Overeem's contract says he fights for Strikeforce in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. So that's about April-September. He fought in K-1 early march and he came back to K-1 late September. During that time he was booked twice for Strikeforce but had to pull out because of the hand injury that kept him out of K-1 and DREAM for a half year. Also, Overeem was not even officially signed to Strikeforce until last May. Overeem will fight for Strikeforce this summer. Thing is, i'm not even an Overeem fan. I always thought he was a middle of the pack talent who bulked up and now he's somewhat of a mystery with his new size and has built a cult following with his performance in K-1. So my defense of his situation should not be looked at as me being an apologist. I'm just looking at the facts and to summarize the facts: - Somebody with 11 losses and has always fought top competition and currently competes with the best in K-1 is NOT afraid of top competition. - His contract says he is to fight for Strikeforce in the summer. Overeem was injured with a broken hand last summer and didnt fight for anybody, not just Strikeforce. - People complaining about the two years is bullshit as Strikeforce has literally nobody for him to fight and he was not even under contract to them until May of 2009 I try to look at the whole picture rather than "BAHAHAHHAHA Overeem is the only roid monkey who does not know how to cycle around drug test and he will never fight in the states!". It's the same thing to me as the people who ignore that Fedor was not exactly a free agent after Affliction foled.

| I never heard that Overeem had no contract. The way I understand it is his old contract ran out late last spring. Overeem in 2008 said he had no plans of ever fighting for Strikeforce again. I wish I could find this interview now.
Regardless, if he can't fight, strip him. I don't care what the reason is.

| Werdum vs. Fedor should be for their title anyway. But having a champ and then Fedor is good business for Strikeforce -- it's two easy headliners. | |

Lesnar wasn't even in the UFC when Overeem won that title.
