"I'm not going to discuss the UFC too much with the media. But I will say that when they show me terms I like, I'll sign... Money is important but it isn't everything. There are some conditions they have that I don't like. But like I said, when the terms are right I will sign right away."

well then I guess we will never see Overeem in the UFC. He isn't worth any special treatment....unless he beats Fedor.

I think it's pretty clear that the problems most fighters have with the UFC's terms are the restrictions on fighting outside the UFC and basically being owned by the UFC instead of being treated as a separate entity. I think it is safe to assume these are the issues Overeem has with the terms. Being obligated to fight is much different than what he has done at strikeforce (not defending his title for two years.) So, if those are the terms he's waiting for, then he will never, ever, ever fight in the UFC

That, and he likes the spike... Unless someone's willing to pay him enough to drop the needle, he will never fight in the US.

HA! I wouldn't be surprised if they sign this tool, cough Kimbo cough. Granted Kimbo is a draw but Roid Face has a resume, or should I say, a resume that is better than Kimbo.

LOL. It seems "Overeem to the UFC" comes up every month or so.
The guy CAN'T go to the UFC and "conditions" means that UFC would have to accept that he's under contract to K-1, Dream and Strikeforce because those just happen to be Overeem's conditions. All those guys would allow him to fight in UFC, but would UFC break their business model for Overeem?
Fedor would be in UFC if the "conditions were right" but the conditions are a lot of the times not right in UFC, especially with guys like Overeem who have so much shit going on with other orgs.
Strikeforce is not furious with the guy, atleast not about worthless comments about UFC because he can't go there. He says he's going to fight soon in Strikeforce every month. Nobody ever believes that but he says "if the conditions are right" he would fight for UFC and everybody thinks he's going to UFC? Why?
Overeem signed a fresh contract in May to fight exclusivley in the US for Strikeforce. I'm not keeping count, but i think he still has a few fights left and i think Strikeforce/Showtime would be fine stripping him of the title and keeping him out of the states completely if he refuses to come down and take the beating from Fedor.
Why is there always such blatant disregard for contracts on MMA forums?

Why is this even worth a thread?
Farmer you should be smart enough to understand Overeem is always talking bullshit like this, and has also gained more muscle than any baseball roider ever did in a shorter period of time, and has ducked many US fights.
Overeem is a fraud.

Overeem is a cheating tool and I doubt he could survive the NSAC drug screening. But as to the UFC keeping their contracted fighters from fighting for other organizations? That is the smartest thing they do. Example: I have a fighter he is considered my #1 contender for the WW belt, but he goes over and fights in DREAM and gets his ass kicked. Then his next fight he wins the UFC WW Championship, but the value of the belt is deminished, because obviously the WWs are better in DREAM, right? So why are we watching the UFC?
You guys are not thinking about this as business men, you are thinking about this like a fighter who only looks out for themselves. That is not in the best interest of the sport.

Scott Coker explained the Overeem situation in a recent interview. Basically he said the way his contract was wrote up is that he would only fight for Strikeforce in the summer and the rest of the year he would be obligated to K-1 or who ever else.
When the months for his Strikeforce obligation rolled around he got injured and couldn't defend.
Heres the interview.

Strikeforce is afraid if they strip him until he can meet his obligations that he won't ever fight for them again. He doesn't have the skill, or star power to justify this.

Wolf has a point, Coker should be building his stable up with fighters that fight and not with a Champion INO. He has got arguably the best HW in the world, why not go with it?
