- Some fighters cut and bruise more easily then others; its a fact of fighting. Forget all the "if two guys went outside of a bar and fought" nonsense. We are talking about two professional fighters, not two jackasses in a bar. Youre right about the bar thing, usually the guy who is more marked up lost. However, when dealing with pro fighters, thats not always the case. Take Arturo Gatti for example. That guy swelled and cut if you touched his face once; doesnt mean he lost every decision he was in simply because he cuts and bruises easily. The whole "look at the other guy's face" is the predictable reaction by a fighter who knows he lost, but can only point to one thing that might mislead the public. Did BJ win the last two rounds against GSP because he bloodied him up in the first? No.
I agree I'm using the bar arguement to say Nate has more power in his punches than people are giving him credit for that's all From an MMA standpoint, No HE DID NOT have more power in his punches. If you watch the fight, just watching both fighter's demeanors with how they were throwing and landing punches, you could tell Maynard was landing with alot more power than Diaz was.

Why do I got to be a moron I thought we were just discussing opinion here. If you want to name call then we can name call like some kids what do you want to do? My bad kind gentleman. We are going to have a jolly good chat about why Diaz's punches were just these hectic heymakers and bombs connecting on Maynards face the whole fight. What would you like to add sir? better?

| When did I say anything about Maynard's power? I never said Nate hit harder than Grey. Or that he landed more. What are you talking about? People act like Nate's punches don't hurt I'm saying look at Maynards face that shit hurt | |

| Yes, but it doesnt take alot of power to bruise someone's face up sometimes.
Some people could get hit in the face by an 8 year old and still swell up like a grapefruit.

| wow the dude who got on me for name calling is name calling. All you Diaz haters are gonna try to make it seem like he has no power, but bottom line none of you would want to take a Nate Diaz punch to the face. No one said he hits harder than Maynard, but four you to say his punches are like getting hit with a pillow is just stupid cause if he clocked you he would turn ur lights out real quick. | |

| Power refers to a fighter's ability to "rock" his opponent and throw off his equilibrium. This is what happens when a fighter is said to be "hurt." A big cut or swelling does not indicate whether or not the fighter is "hurt" by itself. Gray, in this regard, was never actually "hurt" in the fight, whereas Diaz was on a few occasions. That is all the evidence of power you need. Power doesnt cause cuts and bruises, it "hurts" other fighters.
However, I would never claim Diaz has "no" power. He just did not connect the way he needed to against Gray to win the fight.

- how anyone can say they had that fight 30-27 for gray is mind boggling. The 1st round was super close and could have gone either way, rewatching it i gave it to Nate cause he landed more. The 3rd was EASILY Nate's round and if you think otherwise then ur fucked up in the head. When i initially watched it i had it 29-28 for Gray. After rewatching it (on mute cause Rogan is obviously on Grays nut sack) i had it 29-28 Diaz with him taking the 1st and 3rd rounds. Rewatch the fight if you must and then try telling me how it was closer to 30-27 for Gray ...WTF?
I had it 29-28 gray. but in saying I thought it was closer to 30-27 then 29-28 Diaz, I was merely saying I thought the 3rd(which I scored Diaz) rd was closer then the 2nd(which I scored gray). And diaz getting rocked late is the main reason(although I though Diaz came on strong late in the 2nd). the 1st was a clear gray rd imo. And as far as Diaz's power, I think Maynard clearly was respecting it towards the end of rd 2. Neither Nate or Nick have big one punch power, that is obvious, and a big part of that is that they don't sit into their punches. To use a boxing term they are volume punchers, But they do wear guys down, sometimes earlier then later.

I would like to add that the Diaz "pillow punching" claims are getting out of hand. Lets say your at the bar and two guys take a fight outside and you stay inside. After their done they both come back into the bar, one guys face looks like Maynards and one looks like Nates. EVERYONE on this board seeing the two guys faces would say the guy that looked like Maynard got his ass fucked up and no one would question if the other guy hit hard. so you see MMA caliber fights at your local bars? I want to come!

Oggy, are you seriously bringing up the "pro fighter would knock me out" crap. If anybody hits anyone cleanly, anybody can knock anyone out about 90% of the time. Now im not saying i'd stand a chance against Nate because he'd beat me in a fight...but im not a PRO FIGHTER. On a pro level, his striking is below average. Im not afraid of taking a punch to the face either. Would I want to take one? No, but at the same time I'm not afraid to get my ass handed to me either.

Most fighters don't show thier bruising and swelling until later after the fight. I'd like to see a picture of Diaz now.

| Oh shit... I took a look thinking someone held a Diaz at gunpoint and took his purse money. Instead, just turns out that it was a thread started by a Diaz fan who "thought" he got jobbed (Laughable) and quickly spun out of control into a clusterfuck of a thread... Are we really this bored people? | |

| How could you have had Diaz winning the first? He couldn't touch Gray at all in the first and was constantly getting tagged. He looked unprepared and it took him a while to get a rythm, once he got it the only way to win was KO, Sub, or towel throwing. | |

Rogan's bias was most evident late in the 2nd. Diaz was coming on strong late in the rd, Couture's instructions to Maynard between rds made it pretty evident, Rogan was surprised at Randy's insructions. In general I like Rogan, but he def finds himself a favorite in some of these fights and loses objectivity.
