Mir on Fedor

Mir says Fedor Emelianenko is too small to fight the bigger heavyweights. He said Brett Rogers, who is not a top-10 fighter, gave him fits because he was so much bigger than him. Mir described Fedor as “5-11, 235 with a belly” and believes he could drop to 205 pounds.

Mir included Fedor in his top-ranked heavyweights, which also included Brock Lesnar, Nogueira, Junior dos Santos, Cain Velasquez, Shane Carwin and himself.

Well Fedor could probably drop to 235 other than that Mir is an idiot.

Do we really expect anything less from Mir? He has an egomaniac kind of attitude and that usually reflects on his commentary about other fighters.

Mir needs to stick to fighting and his commentary in the WEC.

mir's cockiness just went up two notches cause he is walking around at 284lbs and now all of the sudden most heavy's are small compared to him I cant wait for carwin to drop his bitch ass.

Don't know. I said he was on the roids after the Kongo fight and I got slammed. Pretty odd to go from 240 to 265 (of solid muscle) that fast.

I'm not surprised and you're right, he's a company man. I don't even have a problem with him being a company man but that doesn't mean he needs to go and say things that are stupid like this.

And for the roids discussion...I don't think it's fair or right to point fingers and toss around accusations when the guy submits to drug tests and doesn't fail. He's not Josh Barnett or Sean Sherk. If he fails a test then we will all know he's a juicer. A guy his size could put on muscle fairly quickly. He's obviously got a huge frame and he's started a ridiculous workout regimen. I've seen guys make similar gains naturally many times when they start training with heavy weights. And remember, he was weighing in around 245 after an 8 week training camp...it's not like he just strolled in off the street and weighed in that low.

I know its perfectly possible to gain that kind of mass but he had to change his eating, his supliments and his training. He had to be training for cardio and speed before with little to no weight training. It is a freakish jump, if it is all natural then I commend him for the disapline that would take. He had to change his lifestyle.

I really dont have a problem with what he said cause its part true in my book. As Fedor keeps getting older he will have increasing problems with some of the larger HWs. That doesnt mean Mir or Brock or Carwin or bigger guys could beat him today like he is saying but in time Fedor will have problems with these guys.

The only thing i agree with Mir with is i would like to see Fedor take a dip at 205. I think there are more interesting matchups in the weight class than his current one.

I think Mir's just saying stuff to get Fedor to the UFC. Plus, he may be right. Fedor might have problems with the bigger guys if they have well polished skills unlike Rogers. I thihk Lesnar would give Fedor fits. And that's not saying that I think Brock's a better fighter, I just think he'd win that fight. As for a Fedor/Mir matchup, I'd love to see it. Mir's 10 times better than Werdum, and I'm pretty sure he'd break Overeem's arm in half a round. So why should Fedor be fighting these chumps?
