| I thought Maynard schooled Diaz in the first two rounds.
Not sure how one of the judges gave two rounds to Diaz. I would agree that the 3rd round was very close, but all the other rounds seemed to favor Maynard IMO.

| I predicted that the judging was going to be goofy. MMA and boxing judges sometimes prefer the longer fighter if he wings out a lot of blocked arm punches that dont really land hard or flush, but just brush off the side of the head while being defensed, in terms of work rate or whatever, and if they don't see exactly what happens from their viewpoint.
Maynard connected with more real punches, but Diaz landed a lot of blocked ones and since he was longer appeared in some ways to control the distance, even if he was getting tagged off and on and actually losing.

| I give that fight to Maynard just barely. He may have earned a victory over Diaz but in no way did he earn a title shot against BJ Penn. I think it would be irresponsible of Dana and Silva to match Maynard up with Penn. He'd get it worse than Diego, mark my words. | |

| Do you guys think Gray can take BJ down?
Frankie might be the only guy quick enough to stay with BJ on the feet, but even that isn't likely.

Technically Maynard wouldnt get it worse because he wouldnt take a beating for the entire 5 rounds, he'd be KO'd in the 1st.

Frankie might be the only guy quick enough to stay with BJ on the feet, but even that isn't likely. That's the thing. Maynard won't even want to take BJ down. If he does not want any part of Nathan's ground game, he will probably poop his pants at the thought of the fight with BJ going to ground. Maynard is not ready. Edgar has put together a better run recently despite the fact that Gray beat Edgar awhile ago. Put Gray against Diego, Sherk, or even Daddy Stevenson...see where he really stands.

| Gray wasn't scared of his ground game. Gray wanted the knockout. That was obvious. | |

| Whatever his intentions were...the bottom line is Maynard is toast wherever a fight with BJ goes. | |
