Weed reform that is lol. It's so stupid that it hasn't been done already. I would like to know if there is anyone on this board who disagrees with pot being legalized and taxed? If so please give your reasons for being against it.

I smoke pot a lot but I understand why it is illegal. It saps creativity and ambition. It doesn't destroy one's life like alcohol and other drugs but it prevents growth and causes life-stagnation as you sit and watch cartoons in your underwear on your couch with frozen pizza crumbs accumulating in your belly button.

That said, small amounts should be decriminalized since it is chiefly used as a tool to abuse the black community and it otherwise pollutes jails and the legal system with non-issue crimes.

smoking weed makes you less creative huh? First time i ever heard that. Smoking weed doesn't make you a loser, your self esteem does. The stereotype of the lazy stoner doesn't exist anymore. Doctors, lawers, cops, teachers etc are all smoking the herb and if you think otherwise you're just misinformed.

Just because you smoke weed doesn't mean you need to be offended by the truth and trick yourself into believing it doesn't make some people plain out suck.

All my white, intelligent homies who I burnt holes in the O-zone via untold numbers of blunts smoked all stopped smoking and grew up. All my wigger loser friends still smoke and have kids by multiple women who all collect public aid. Typically my mature and successful friends are occassional smokers or not at all, and my former friends who are all losers are still frequent smokers.

I know lots of people who don't smoke because they simply can't without being lazy or zapped. My sister is like that.

Weed is like anything else, some people can't handle it. Some can drink a beer or two every night with no ill effects, others it totally destroys. Lots of professionals can use coke on the weekend with no ill effects otherwise, and still others try it a few times and in a year end up selling their jags and end up begging for pills and meth on the underside of the freeway. Weed doesn't do that to people, but some people it takes creativity away. My least pithy and biting posts are often the result of being burnt out.

And don't lie to me and say you've not met lazy stoners, especially since you transverse the rap-circles.

Dude have you ever considered that you're not the only person in the world? And that maybe other people have experienced life too? I have plenty of "mature successful friends" who smoke more than i do (including teachers, Cops, Lawyers etc) and i know plenty of lazy people who dont smoke weed at all. I'd argue america's addiction to McDonalds cheese burgers has created alot more fat ass lazy people than smoking a joint at the end of a hard day has. Yes it's true some people just cant handle smoking weed but is that why it should be still illegal in your opinion? Some people cant handle alcohol, some people cant handle perscription drugs, some people cant handle gambling, eating, etc. So under your logic in your own little world all these things should be illegal too. So when you create your perfect utopia where no one has any faults or vices lets us know. Im sure everyone will be jumping at the chance to come join you. And stop comparing marijuana to alcohol and coke. No one goes home after smoking a blunt and beats their wife and no one sucks a dick for a bong hit.

PostSubject: Re: Reform is on the Way!!   Reform is on the Way!! EmptyTue Dec 29, 2009 2:51 am

Oggy calm down. First off, I used a lot of examples regarding other people and their marijuana use, so implying that I am only speaking with my own first hand knowledge doesn't make sense. Secondly I never said it should stay illegal, I said I understand why it is illegal. There is a difference between supporting an idea about something and simply understanding that said idea. Third, I said in this very thread that weed should be decriminalized. Weed also effects memory, and clearly you were high when you read my first post! Ha. Lastly I am very libertarian on personal choices like this. Let people fuck their lives up all they want. Sink or swim. I would decriminalize most substances and personal choices that are illegal now.

Legalization and decriminalization aint the same bro. How much have you read into this? Decriminalization is a realistic goal. Legalization is a long ways off and probably won't ever happen(edit - outside of the most liberal states, where even there it will ultimately prove a super tough sell for the older generation), though ideally that would be the best option because of the tax revenue and the availability of various strains and styles that would come of it.

To break it down into something easy, realistic decriminalization would be simply taking off the books the laws that arrest people for small amounts of personal use, where as "legalization" would involve passing a law that OKs the use of weed, and then the regulation that would come with it. Decriminalization could be snuck past the old fogeys, but no way in hell would the God fearing war mongering bible thumping retards that make up the conservative base allow the devils weed to be legalized at the expense of the children!

yea decriminalization is great. If you get caught with a dub of weed in NY (a place where MJ has been so called decriminalized) they'll just give you a ticket for 250 bucks and you'll never be able to get a good job again. God forbid you have a bowl on you or something there's your drug Paraphernalia charge. That will all look great on your resume.

Complete legalization or legalization of medical marijuana throughout the 50 states is the only thing that will make a difference. Decriminalization still means it is illegal and wrong and that is not acceptable to me.

Reform is on the Way!! Empty
PostSubject: Re: Reform is on the Way!!   Reform is on the Way!! EmptyTue Dec 29, 2009 2:04 pm

California is a huge ag state. It's #1 cash crop is marijuana. That money is largely untaxed and revenue for organized crime, who destroy swaths of remote national forest land by shipping Mexicans slaves along with heavily armed thugs to cultivate in the Sierra Nevada and Trinity mountains. That should be illegal and fought. I feel legalization would eliminate those kind of activities greatly. In the 30's when alcohol was prohibited only big time criminals and gangsters were profiting, much like today, that system favored big crime. We don't see any gangsters selling booze now that it is produced and distributed legally, and booze is far more dangerous than pot, but that's a whole other argument.

One glaring problem to the legalization argument lies in revenue, not for criminals but those who fight them, law enforcement. Local agencies like Sheriffs, City Police, and State Troopers get a huge portion of their revenues from drug related land and property seizures. There is a reason that around 85% of all minor and major narcotics infractions involve marijuana, it is profitable. That coupled with state and federal grant programs aimed at marijuana (and depending on the narcotic landscape, other drugs) make fighting pot very important for law enforcement revenue.

The most difficult part is perception. marijuana has developed into a negative entity in our western culture. It has been developing into that for a relatively short amount of time, less then 100 years. It started with religion and racism. Mormons prohibited it's use my Mexicans through their missionary work any way they could, it was bad and not accepted by god. That sentiment would carry it self to southern California where it's use by Mexicans was further admonished. laws against it's use sprang up all over. 60's use and the counter culture further burned marijuana as bad into the minds of the masses. It's taken a long time for marijuana to shed even a bit of that negative label, but it is by and large still deemed bad in western culture.

I say, legalize it, don't criticize it.

Um...Oggy, weed isn't decriminalized anywhere in the USA that I know of. Furthermore, what you describe there is not really decriminalization at all. That is just a lower level of enforcement. Real decriminalization would be where there is no consequence at all, no ticket, no paraph charges. There is a difference between being "legal" and simply not being "illegal". For you to get a ticket and something on your criminal record, it still has to be a criminal offense, bud.

This is why weed will struggle to ever be legal or even decriminalized. Because stoners are basically the only ones fighting to make it legal, and many of them don't even really know what that means!

Some places in Canada have selective enforcement, where the drug is technically still illegal, but there is a policy by law enforcement to ignore offenders entirely. I don't understand it fully though so I don't have a lot of details.

Gotta agree with Oggy here. If we just decriminalize it, it will still be looked at as worse than alcohol which kills people. Legalize it, tax it, lets take the market away from organized criminal groups like GDPofDRC said.

Totally agree with this post, Oggy. Fast food and the porn industry tear apart more families and ruin more lives than marijuana ever has or will. Lots of people can handle lots of drugs, it's just that they like them to much. No one ever tries a drug hoping to get addicted, addiction sneaks up on them. Seriously, it's sad. The great thing is that weed isn't like that. Yeah, it's mentally addicting but definitely not physically. (if you've never been addicted to a drug like opiates then don't tell me that you're physically addicted to weed...trust me...you're not.)

Oh, and in college there was a pretty damn hot chick who sucked my cock for a gram of nug. BOOYAH!

so prostitution is brought on by the want for weed in this case. I wouldnt use this as an arguement in legalization.

Nor would I. This would actually be an argument to keep it illegal IMO. It would be quite difficult to get blown for a gram if the chick could go to the locally dispensary and pick up the pot anyway. Unless she's a cock loving slut of course...
