Somewhere in Yemen. AQAP leader Al Wahishi was openly walking with atleast 200 al qaeda fighters. Since the death of Bin Laden and Attiyah, Wahishi has been named "general manager" of al qaeda, essentially making him the number 2 in the global organization and the leader of AQAP ( qaedas Yemeni affiliate).
The reason AQAP is considered the most dangerous branch of al qaeda is largely because of Al-Asiri, al qaeda a chief bomb maker and they are focused on attacking the United States. Asiri made the underwear bomb, the printer bombs, plotted the Heathrow Attacks (reason you can't bring liquid on planes), has put bombs inside living people (his own brother) and many other plots.
6 days ago the propaganda video largely became viewed when CNN picked it up.
This really reminded me of Zarqawi, one of the only ways we can track these people is when they release propaganda videos.
We never got Bin Laden like that (we followed the courier) but we did get Zarqawi by using his own propaganda videos to determine his location in iraq.
Friday a drone strike in Yemen killed atleast 10 al qaeda members, possibly 12, and killed 2-4 civilians.
Satirday another drone strike in Yemen killed atleast 25 al qaeda members and no civilians.
Today Yemeni and American special forces ambushed an al qaeda convoy and killed 55 a qaeda fighters.
Al-Asiri is all but certainly amongst the dead from today. We are pretty positive al-wahishi is amongst the dead as we'll.
