Fox Sports will debut a second 24-hour sports network this summer.

News Corporation will convert the Fuel cable network into general sports channel ‘Fox Sports 2′ this August, Sports Business Journal reported Monday. The launch of Fox Sports 2 will coincide with the conversion of Speed Channel to Fox Sports 1.

Fox Sports 1 and Fox Sports 2 will be the chief outlets for News Corp. sports programming. FX, which aired college football coverage the past two seasons and previously televised baseball and NASCAR, will no longer carry sporting events. Fox Soccer is expected to be converted into a general entertainment channel.

Currently, Fuel is in 37.6 million television homes — over 43 million fewer than Speed Channel (81.0M). Fox Soccer (42.3M) is actually in more homes than Fuel.

So FUEL will be changed to FOX Sports 2 and Speed will be FOX Sports 1?

Will the fox sports replace all the regional ones?

I don't think this will effect Fox Sports Net. They don't mention FSN at all. Looks like the channels effected will be Speed, FUEL and Fox Soccer? Looks like Fox Soccer will be like another version of FX? "General Entertainment"? and FUEL and SPEED will be national FOX Sports Channels? I dunno, that's how I read it atleast.

Currently we have Fox for the biggest shows, then FX is the middle programming and Fuel has by far the least available viewers.
So we still keep FOX as the big dog which if far biggest channel. We could lose out on the middle shows but the FUEL shows just got double the available audience. Considering the big dog FOX is unchanged and moving FUEL cards to a channel with double the viewers. Doesn't sound too bad to me.

Just different. If you look at my previous post it looks like it will be bad for whatever shows would have been on FX but good for whatever shows would have been on FUEL. Regular FOX shows are not effected. But whatever channel they air the shows that would have been on FX looks like it might have less viewers on the new channel but not real sure on that. But FUEL shows will now be on channel with double the viewers of FUEL.

ESPN changed things up over the years when they added ESPN 2, ESPN News and ESPN Classic. Looks like a similar re-branding.

These fox sports channels need to take some games from fsn.
