Although it’s only been a few days since Carlos Condit scored an impressive stoppage win over Martin Kampmann at UFC FN 27, speculation as to who the former interim champ will battle next continues. While “The Natural Born Killer” continues to sit at the top of the welterweight rankings in the #2 slot, four of the top five welterweights are currently booked for bouts, and Condit already holds a split decision win over the #5 ranked Jake Ellenberger.

While appearing on MMA Junkie.Radio recently, Condit was asked about his next bout, and the rugged welterweight relayed he’s interested in facing Matt Brown.

“He’s been on a tear, and it’d be really exciting for the fans,” Condit noted about “The Immortal”, who is on a six fight winning streak that includes stoppage wins over Jordan Mein, Mike Swick, and most recently Mike Pyle.

“I’d like that fight, and we’ll have to see what happens”

that's a dream fight for me. 2 of my favorites. would be a war.

i reckon it would be entertaining but easy work for condit unless he got complacent.

i don't quite understand how brown has got into the title conversation, he still hasn't beaten anyone even vaguely resembling a top 10 contender as far as i can see. and if any of those guys he beat in his recent streak were top 10, it shows how the depth at 170 has fallen away within the space of a year or two.

While I agree Condit wrecks him and don't really think Brown should be (or is? he's only Ranked #9 WW by the UFC's own ranking system) in the title conversation, six consecutive wins in the UFC (5 by KO/TKO) is pretty solid.

In a sport/promotion where what you have done lately means everything, he's in pretty elite company.

Condit is still gonna make him look bad imo

I think Condit should be the favorite, but Brown definitely is game and should not be over looked as well.  I think a fight between the two would be very exciting.

Agree with bobbitt. Brown is not near the caliber fighter CC is. He is a step above Swick at best. He does have luck on his side. That's it though

Brown is game but thats it, I dont think he has any business with CC or the rest of the upper class of 170.
