| Andrei Arlovski is now looking to fight next sometime in the first quarter of 2010 after an offer to fight Alistair Overeem at Dynamite!! 2009 on New Year's Eve was pulled for a reason unknown to Arlovski's camp. Arlovski was under the impression that he would be the opponent for the Strikeforce heavyweight champion in Japan, but DREAM announced Tuesday that Overeem will be fighting Kazuyuki Fujita. "To our surprise, as probably many of you saw, Alistair Overeem is going to be fighting Fujita during that event," Arlovski's manager Leo Khorlinsky said Wednesday in a video chat on Arlovski's official website. "I actually just off the phone with the Japanese person who were handling so far the communication and paperwork with me, and he basically did not have a logical explanation or any comment in regards to it." Khorlinsky said they had already informed friends and family members that they would not be able to spend Christmas and New Year's with them because Arlovski would be traveling to Japan for the Overeem fight. "That's the fight that we accepted," Khorlinsky said. "That's the fight that we were officially offered by DREAM. And actually several days earlier we received the paper work from Japan to go and obtain a Japanese VISA." Instead of fighting, Arlovski will return home to celebrate the holidays and plans after to continue his training until a new opportunity comes to fruition. Khorlinsky said he is in the process of negotiations with several promotions for Arlovski to fight first quarter 2010. http://mma.fanhouse.com/2009/12/17/fight-vs-overeem-nixed-andrei-arlovski-looking-to-return-first/ | |

| He didn't duck him, with the Fedor vs. Overreem fight more than likely to happen, that makes a hell of a lot more sense than AA. | |

Ummm... He's fighting Fujita instead, not Fedor.

| You don't get it, u think they want to chance Overreem losing to AA and taking the steam out of the Fedor fight? | |

| I don't see it as ducking in the classic sense, the match was supposedly set, but then the Strikeforce Fedor vs. Overreem Title match was likely set for April. You can't have him fighting AA, then 3-4 months later fight Fedor, the potential for him to lose and take everything out of the Fedor fight is too high. I wouldn't be surprised if Coker stepped in, give him a very winnable tune up fight, instead of fighting AA. | |

| I think the reason is this. In AA's recent interview that was streamed live his manager said the promoters had Overeem/Arlovski but they(promoters) nixed it to put Overeem vs. Fujita.
My opinion is, Fujita is a way bigger star to the japanese audience than AA thus making Overeem-Fujita a bigger fight within that venue even though Overeem vs. AA is of more importance.
That's a dangerous fight for both fighters though. Overeem can't really afford a loss, atleast from SF's perspective. AA would represent his first real competition at HW since CroCop. Another loss for AA would be very damaging. AA should take it easy. He's been off for awhile and he's coming off two straight losses. He needs to fight to build his confidence again and i don't think Overeem is it.

| Ya this is clearly ducking. I mean if this kind of story about Overeem didn't happen every two months with him neglecting to fight real fighters, and then turning around and fighting Fujitas, Tompsons and other bums, I might believe him, but this fruad gets no benefit of the doubt. He is a suped up journeyman with a glass jaw and a deformed head.
Overeem is a fucking fake. If you like him, punch yourself in the face for being a dumbass. Honestly.
