The tumultuous career of Paulo Filho almost took another turn for the worse this week.

According to sources close to the Brazilian fighter, Filho, the former WEC middleweight champion, suffered a panic attack on Tuesday, just as he was getting set to fly to Atlantic City, N.J., for his World Series of Fighting 2 bout against David Branch.

As a result, Filho missed his flight, and at one point, WSOF officials had to consider pulling him from the card. On Wednesday, though, Filho confirmed that he was on a plane headed to New Jersey, so as of Wednesday fight, the Filho vs. Branch fight is still on.

The 34-year-old Filho (23-4-2) was once considered one of the best middleweights in a world. However, since missing weight prior to a WEC title fight against Chael Sonnen in 2008, he has dealt with a litany of issues. Not only did he lose the bout in a bizarre, out-of-character performance, he has since battled serious drug and mental issues, not to mention visa issues.

While he squandered an opportunity to fight for Bellator in 2010, the WSOF opportunity will mark his first fight in North America since the Sonnen fight five years ago.

WSOF 2, headlined by Andrei Arlovski vs. Anthony Johnson, will air live on NBC Sports Network Saturday night.

Event could be in jeopardy because of issues with the cage

hopefully they get it cleared.

Better than it being the lights and guys getting cooked while they fight.

So far it's still a go, I just checked and still have the same report time for the card. Cage problems will most likely be fixed by start time.

Arlovski worth a bet ?

If I was going to bet on a guy it would be him, but I wouldn't bet on this fight in general. Johnson probably has enough power still if he hits Andre flush on the chin to hurt him. Other than that, Arlovski won't get taken down and should be able to out box Johnson. He is full framed in shape 6'4" HW with all of his experience fighting other really good HW's in his career. Johnson is not in shape, he is probably a MW or LHW at largest, his ass looks like it has a boner in that photo up there. He will not be as fast as we've seen him in the past and will not have the gas to hang in this fight.

Cage is approved WSOF is back in business.

Been some good stuff on these prelims tonight.

Geez, this is sort of like bellator the other night. So far only one decision awarded and it was a not bad fight. All subs and knockouts.

I hope somebody saw these fights, great Prelim. McCray vs Villafort was a Split Decision Bangfest.

Didn't know what to make of this Justin Gaethje, he is 7-0 but beat a lot of 0-1 type dudes to get that record, he is attacking JZ though.

He looked good tonight.

And the rough night for the blackzillians kicks off to a beautiful start.
