I don't deny the effect Bonnar vs. Griffin 1 had for the UFC I just think the timing is horrible to announce he's getting in the HOF. | |

| i'm beginning to think the impact of Griffin-Bonnar is overrated.
Spike would have signed them long term anyway because the ratings for the opening season of TUF was already good anyway. Granted, it popped a strong rating and gave them a glimpse out of the cave for a day or two but then what happened? Another year of the same saggy buyrates. UFC is a PPV model so that is what matters. It didnt pull them out of the dark ages.
Personally, i think the Ortiz-Shamrock rivalry did wayyyy more to put the UFC where it is today, along with TUF as a whole than the Griffin-Bonnar by itself fight ever did. That's what put them on the next level.
In the end, when casuals and hardcore fans look back at important moments in MMA. People don't even think of the Griffin-Bonnar fight right away. | |
