| Since his first fight in the UFC I've been thinking he should drop down. He's too short for 185 in the UFC. |

- After a successful middleweight run outside the UFC and mixed results in the organization, Hector Lombard is considering a drop to welterweight.
FUEL TV's "UFC Tonight" reported the possibility on Tuesday.
Lombard (32-4-1 MMA, 1-2 UFC) dominated the competition from 2007-2011, which included a 24-0-1 record and a lengthy title run with his former home at Bellator MMA.
However, after signing with the UFC this past year, Lombard suffered a split-decision loss to Tim Boetsch in a flat promotional debut. He rebounded for a knockout victory over Rousimar Palhares, but this past month at UFC on FUEL TV 8, he dropped a split decision to perennial contender Yushin Okami.
Lombard, who recently employed the services of weight-cutting and dieting consultant Mike Dolce, will do a test weight cut to 170 pounds before making a final decision.
However, many factors are working against him, including his stocky build and his age (35). In fact, Lombard had to strip and stand behind a towel to make weight for the Okami fight. Additionally, the Cuban-Australian and Olympic judoka also previously competed as heavy as light heavyweight earlier in his career.
Lombard currently is awaiting surgery on a broken nose he suffered in the loss to Okami before he resumes a full training camp. http://www.mmajunkie.com/news/2013/04/ufcs-hector-lombard-considering-a-drop-to-welterweight

| i think he can make waves at 170 assuming he can get to it. He wont be manhandled or taken down at 70 but he will have to move more to get into range and keep himself there. | |

| It's a shame. I thought he won all 3 of his fights at MW. | |

I felt Hector beat Boetsch but no way did he beat Okami. Loved watching him Hulk smash Paul Harris though that was fun.

| No way? It's definitely arguable, especially after i watched it a second time..but i'm one of the few people that thinks a takedown does not win a round when the guy gets right back up and lands the best punches of the round..which was Lombard
Hector blew it himself though. He should have finished Okami in the 3rd instead of wasting all that time trying to land meaningful GnP. I know he was tired or maybe that he would get the first round..but Yushin Okami had turned into Yushin Orgami..if Lombard had kept it upright, he would have got the finish.
I wouldnt call it a robbery, which i thought the Boetsch fight was..it was a razor thin decision that i thought should have went to Lombard.

| I don't think anyone has defeated him in the UFC yet myself either. Though I wouldn't jump to call him a winner in the Okami or Bosetsch fights, but good enough. | |
