UFC 157 salaries Empty
PostSubject: UFC 157 salaries   UFC 157 salaries EmptyWed Feb 27, 2013 3:31 pm

Co-main event fighters Lyoto Machida and Dan Henderson were the top earners at this past weekend's UFC 157 event.

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) on Wednesday obtained the list of disclosed paydays from the California State Athletic Commission. The total disclosed payroll for the event was $1,173,050.

Machida beat Henderson by split decision to earn a light-heavyweight title shot with the winner of April's UFC 159 headliner between champion Jon Jones and challenger Chael Sonnen. Former champ Machida earned $200,000 for the victory while Henderson made $250,000. Neither fighter had a contracted win bonus.

Main-event fighters Ronda Rousey and Liz Carmouche made history as participants in the first UFC women's bout. Rousey earned $90,000 for her first-round submission of Carmouche (which included a $45,000 win bonus), who made $12,000 in defeat.

Other top earners on the card included Robbie Lawler, who returned to the UFC for the first time in more than eight years and beat Josh Koscheck via a first-round TKO. Lawler made $105,000 while Koscheck picked up $78,000. Additionally, Urijah Faber made easy work of Ivan Menjivar for a $100,000 payday.

"UFC 157: Rousey vs. Carmouche" took place this past Saturday, Feb. 23, at Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. The main card aired on pay-per-view following prelims on FX and Facebook.

The full UFC 157 payouts included:

Ronda Rousey: $90,000 (includes $45,000 win bonus)
def. Liz Carmouche: $12,000

Lyoto Machida: $200,000 (no win bonus)
def. Dan Henderson: $250,000

Urijah Faber: $100,000 (includes $50,000 win bonus)
def. Ivan Menjivar: $17,000

Court McGee: $40,000 (includes $20,000 win bonus)
def. Josh Neer: $16,000

Robbie Lawler: $105,000 (includes $10,000 win bonus)
def. Josh Koscheck: $78,000

Brendan Schaub: $36,000 (includes $18,000 win bonus)
def. Lavar Johnson: $29,000

Mike Chiesa: $30,000 (includes $15,000 win bonus)
def. Anton Kuivanen: $8,000

Dennis Bermudez: $20,000 (includes $10,000 win bonus)
def. Matt Grice: $8,000

Sam Stout: $52,000 (includes $26,000 win bonus)
def. Caros Fodor: $15,000

Kenny Robertson: $16,000 (includes $8,000 win bonus)
def. Brock Jardine: $8,000

Neil Magny: $16,000 (includes $8,000 win bonus)
def. Jon Manley: $8,000

Nah-Shon Burrell: $12,500 (includes $7,000 win bonus)
def. Yuri Villefort: $6,550*

* Burrell missed weight and a percentage of his fight purse went to Villefort.

Now, the usual disclaimer: The figures do not include deductions for items such as insurance, licenses and taxes. Additionally, the figures do not include money paid by sponsors, which can oftentimes be a substantial portion of a fighter's income. They also do not include any other "locker room" or special discretionary bonuses.

For example, as previously reported, UFC officials handed out additional $50,000 UFC 157 bonuses to Lawler ("KO of the Night"), Robertson ("Submission of the Night"), and Bermudez and Grice ("Fight of the Night").

In other words, the above figures are simply base salaries reported to the commission and do not reflect entire compensation packages for the event.

Robbie Lawler is signed for a base pay of 95K but Jon Fitch is released....yeah, that makes sense.

$60,000 base for a top guy is not that much. Also Dana said he didn't even consider retructuring his contract because he would never do that to a fighter... but cutting him from the roster is better?

Robbie's contract is from SF though and there were plenty of ridiculous contracts over there which is why they wouldn't have made it long term but that's a different story. There was a lot of talk about him being cut if he lost to Kos but Dana has always seemed to really like him

Dana has this lame line where he says he would never ask anyone to take less money, he just cuts them instead. Yeah, that makes sense...

Yeah I figured Robbie's job was on the line here. He lost 3 of 4 coming into the fight. But damn he got a sweet deal for someone at that point in their career. He is still only like 31 or 32 years old and back down to WW. But that salary just sticks out.

I disagree to an extent. Yes she was lucky the Rhonda hype train rolled through but she sold herself very well on the countdown show and did everything that was asked of her even and was half of the biggest women's mma fight ever. Then while most considered her a sacrificial lamb she damn near ended the Rhonda love feast. Big props to Liz.
